Been running Home Premium 32bit ever since it came out, and for the first couple of months I've used Windows Movie Maker to edit the commercials out of the shows and movies I recorded through Media Center (specifically these are .dvr-ms files) without any problems. After a while, I started getting a green screen flashing during the playback on Movie Maker. Some video was visible, but obstructed by a green screen flashing throughout. Audio was uneffected. Recently I updated my drivers in hopes of making it go away, and now the green screen completely covers the playback screen in MM. I have about 7 to 800 gigabytes worth of dvr-ms files that need to be trimmed down, but this makes it all but impossible. I should also mention that once the file is published, the green screen is completely gone and it plays just as well a .wmv would be expected to play. Before I do something drastic like blindly install codec packs or - *gulp* - pay $60 for Windows support (since they conveniently can't locate my product key), can anyone help me remedy this? And it's not a copyright problem, since the episodes I've tried out have no copyright, whereas most of the movies do. Personally I think it's an anti-pirating measure, but I defer to the infinite wisdom of the Interwebz.
