Disclaimer: my provider is verizon FIOS and Speakeasy has Verizon as one of the major tier providers. Traffic is not being passed over any other network than Verizon so all of the latency is Verizon only.

having used this same test, from the same laptop on other network providers there was a significant change. Traceroute indicated that the path crossed several network exchanges, which would have that level of impact.

It's fairly decent in my book. :)
It's also consistent over the day, so I have no need to wait for off peak hours to get full throttle. :)

This connection is from a state capital some 500 miles south by the way.

Here is my local connection 3 days later (noted)

I am on broard band cable (Pay TV type connection) and if I have any comment or complaint it is that Australia is a little SLOW in the broard band era and with this delivering technology the speed (read quality) can vary so much :( Cheers

speedtest.net not working for us?

hello, went to that site and clicked the nearest yellow pyramid and waited a while. we dont get that nice little graphic you guys are showing. the speedometer thing does go red around 20m to 30m on their dial. we are supposed to have 100mbps download connection but then again it is charter cable and they are notorious deceivers lol.
