Vista ISO download

Hi Peter I have an HP EliteBook laptop, certified for Windows Vista Business OEMAct (Microsoft/HP label x13-04660) with an unformatted hard disk. I'd like to install Windows Vista Business X64 on it but I don't have the media disk. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks. Alta alta-vista at msl dot clara dot net

Sent, good luck.

I'm 73 so move over junior...LOL. I can email you a link to my cloud storage download of Vista SP2 x86, your product key decides the version, in your case Home Premium. By formatting and installing you'll certainly get rid of all that HP crapola and have a fresh clean installation, but of course there'll still be a lot of updates to go before it's totally up to date. Please post your email address, disguised as in abc AT def DOT com and when you've done you can come back here and edit it out.
Private Messages don't work here until you have several posts.

Thanks Peter, I know it has 32 bit and wonder if there was an SP2 version, and if there is will my SP1 COA key work on the SP2? That surely will reduce all those W/U sessions. I'm no space between ears and 596. Also, today, I cannot believe the HP site seems to have no more drivers available, it keeps tellimg me to click on that tool that query's your system. Is HP allowing people to download the drivers for their hardware? I thought MS has vista active for another 2 plus years? I even tried to go directly to the laptop model page but clicking on the drivers line it snaps back to that dang system query screen, which does not work. I used to go there a lot to see if I had any newer drivers (never happened) but when I went there to
see how hard it would be to wipe the HD and load only the OS, I got those endless loops (and no drivers screen).

The key applies to the Vista version, the Service Pack level doesn't matter. So it'll be fine.
I just sent the link to you, good luck ;-)

Hello. I just had a harddrive fail and went out and bought a new one. I came home to find out that all of my windows install files stored on other computers have mysteriously disappeared. After a bit of searching online I stumbled across this forum, and so I was wondering if you could possibly send me a download like for Vista 64 bit Service Pack 2? I have a Vista Home Premium key. Thankyou in advance for your help.

Peter, I just screwed up (again, seems to happen more as time goes on). I am very grateful for the file it will be kept securely. I am sorry, just another brain flattuance it seems. You have been extremely helpful and patient, hope this one goes right.

Howdy Ex_Brit (Peter),

Would you please send me guidance on vista business x64. My email is [email protected]
If I have the option to be more specific, maybe something without any service packs as I don't think my key will work on a reinstall of something with a SP.

With much gratitude,
Anonymous Internet Guy.

My Computer

The key isn't dependant on SP's it decides which version of Vista you get, in your case Business. You should use what I just sent you (the full OS including SP1 and SP2) as then you will have far fewer updates to go before you are caught up.

Thanks for the response and additional information. I had read differently but I think you are more credible.
Essentially, what i'm trying to do is re-install my vista business which is currently 32 bit to a 64 bit. From there I plan on using an upgrade key to windows 8 I bought more than a year ago. I could have done this using my existing installation but 32 bit will only upgrade to 32 bit. I'd like to upgrade to 64 bit.

To any other readers in my situation, I believe this can be done by using the file Ex_Brit sends you. Re-install a 64bit using the 32 bit key which i've read on stackexchange will work.

So, it's VISTA X86 -> VISTA X64 -> WINDOWS 8 X64 -> WINDOWS 8.1 X64 -> WINDOWS 10 Technical preview if you wish.

I'm going to try this sequence out in the next week and report back for those interested.

My Computer

I assume you did the test mentioned earlier in this thread to make sure your machine can handle 64-bit. You will have to completely format and reinstall because you are basically installing a different system, 64-bit as against 32-bit.

Well, I have identical computers with the same type of mobo and processor running windows 8.1 x64 so I'm 99% certain vista x64 will work. Though I have heard sometimes using 8GB ram as I am now causes instability.

That all depends on the individual setup. I have 24gb here and it's quite stable.
