I'll need your email again, masked of course. Mega's download is usually rock steady but it may have something to do with your ISP's connectivity perhaps? Also make sure that you have nothing set to go to sleep after a certain time in Control Panel > Power Options.

I have the laptop set to never sleep while plugged in. I am however using the eathernet cable instead of my wifi. I thought it would be a little quicker that way. Not sure if that is hindering it or not

I really appreciate your help.

This may be another thread question but I was wondeing how hard it would be to create a recovery partition during installation of vista

You do not need or want a restoration partition. If you want to have what most of the professionals, here have, including me try Macrium Reflect. Every week or so make an image of your hard drive, put it on an external. If something happens, you do not have to reinstall all your software etc, like with the partition. .You have an exact image of your drive. In addition, with a restoration partition, something happens to your HD, you lost everything, even your important stuff
Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download
Oh yes the cost, the same as the partition, its free.

That does make sense to have an an image to be able to use. The reason for the partition is this laptop isnt going to have many personal files on it if any. It may have a few downloads on it that I could put on a disk to reload if needed. I just wanted an easy way to reset the laptop in case it gets infected. I do plan on having an image as a back up though.

TBH, I do not know of a way to create the actual partition. I never wanted one. I actually lost mine, when I bought 7 and upgraded from Vista. The big PIA about the partition is all the updates from MS that have to be downloaded etc. If you have any MS software like Word, you have updates for them too.

Hi,

After spending 14 hours attempting to download the zip, i have given up! I have tried Chrome and Mozilla browsers, but the download page crashes almost every time. Sometimes it stuck on 37% and would go no further, mostly though,it would reach about 78% and then the webpage would disappear. I tried creating exceptions in the Windows firewall,i disable most of the extensions in Chrome etc but to no avail. Can you help?

What's VLK when it's at home? I have Vista Ultimate but the DVD covers all versions Ultimate and below.

Firefox is the preferred browser and I have no idea why it would be doing that. Could be Mega servers or your ISP's connectivity. There is absolutely no need to fiddle with any settings - it's a browser download pure and simple.

?? Meant for someone else?

That was in response to a post on the previous page asking for Vista VLK - I've never heard of it.

That is yahoo.ie.com I trust? Anyway it's sent and no you don't need a recovery partition.

Edit: Nope that was wrong...got a reject email. Reset to plain old yahoo.com, hope it reaches you.

Maybe i'll try again in a day or two, my broadband speed is fairly decent and i have never experienced these symptoms before. I did notice else where on this topic a user was having problems downloading as well, maybe it's the gremlins :-)

Well Mega could be having server issues. I did say in my email I think that sometimes refreshing the page and trying again works.

... I can offer a download link by email only to a full Vista w/SP2 OS (use your own key) if you specify 32 or 64-bit and give your email, masked of course as in abc AT xyz DOT com. Please come back and edit out the email once I've sent it to you.

Also I may have to stop offering this soon because it is occupying too much of my time.

Hello,

Thanks for all the effort ... and time, it is appreciated. If convenient, a Vista Home Basic 32bit iso link would be a big plus this week!

Best regards, D

Once again someone posted asking for specific files, this is not permitted and the original download files mentioned in post #1 are no longer valid. Torrents and file sharing files are not permitted in these forums, especially OS's which are protected by manufacturers' patents or copyrights.
