vista 32 - replaced 2 hard drives / still down

Download and burn the ISO image to CD. You can't installed the program, you boot from disc, like when installing Vista, and the application runs without installing anything.

Once the program begins scold down to wipe a hard drive press enter.

It looks for the hard drive, which there should only be one! Once it finds it hit enter and then choose Quick- 1 Pass for the method of formatting.

It this fails then the disk if DONE, go back a get a new one.

Inserted disc - would not boot up - I did boot from disc - Is COPYWIPE.ISO 1.52 MB. correct? It really seems like a small program - did not take long to make the disc............

I think this may be too difficult for you. I don't want to discourage you, but if you can't Burn an ISO image to CD, and make your PC boot from disc, then something is wrong.

The file is very small so the burning the ISO may only take seconds.

Once you burn the ISO, you set your PC to boot from the disc. Once it boots its like a small DOS program that starts and you then you follow the directions to perform a wipe.

I did burn and format the disc - went home inserted the disc and F10 to boot from disc - would not start - just asked for the vista disc. Tried this 4 times. No luck.

You don't format the disc? You burn the disc and use the disc! Formatting means you erase the disc, so of course it won't boot.

So I have the correct verbage I just did it again to another disc. Downloaded the COPYWIPE.ISO. I then wrote it to the CD.

You have to be doing something wrong, mostly likely the PC is not set to boot from disc.

Can't help anyone, we are stuck. A simple command of burning an ISO image to Disc and then booting PC from Disc.....

If all were done properly, a the program should start up.

Short clip on how it should work, sorry about the quality!

Try and burn the ISO again, to a regular CD/R. Use ImgBurn to burn the ISO.

The CopyWipe is in a zip file. You have to extract it, and the ISO sits inside the folder.

ok - downloded IMG BURN. Used this program.

The 1st disc made without IMG BURN that would not boot up had 1 ICOM with COPYWIPE ISO 1.45 MB on it.

The new disc just made this am with IMG BURN has 2 ICOM'S on it - BOOT.BIN 1.40 MB AND BOOT.CAT 2.0 KB

This correct???

Ok - the IMG BURN takes WAY TOO LONG! Failed on the quick pass - SO I went and replaced the hard drive AGAIN! I replaced it this am - received this error - THE INSTRUCTION AT 0x77c520e3 REFERENCED MEMORY AT 0x07549800. The memory could not be written.

Neither codes could be found on the internet.

So - I figured it was a memory card issue - Pulled out 1 - 512 MB card and tried reinstalling windows Vista - NADA. Pulled out the 2nd card and put the other one back - HEY HEY!!! It worked!!! Back up and running. SO, I just ordered a 1GB to replace the 512 GB card / found a site that scanned my system and found a 1GB card compatable with my machine.

Appreciate any comments or additions to this huge post - I really hopes this helps someone with this INSANE ISSUE!! Thanks to everyone that tried to help! I know some things just can't be solved easily over the web.

Could have been also, I know when I installed Vista, I usually removed all RAM except one stick. Too many errors. But if you ran that program and it failed writing zeros to the hard drive, then its pretty clear it was the hard drive.

Vista is sensitive about RAM. If possible get a identical set of RAM. When there are two different types or even more, Vista cries.
