User and Admin account big troubles !

My hidden account is wich is now 'Fleur de vie', (corresponding to my old 'Secours' account). This remark is for Lorien ;)

What about these folders with a long name concerning about afw.cat from my Secours account (=bad account) ? Do I need to transfer or not ?

So it is the built-in hidden Administrator account. When done transferring, just deactivate it since we can't remove it.

I have no clue what those folders/files are. I don't have them on my my system. That being the case (and since we aren't going to delete the old account so they will be available if it turns out they are necessary), I would not transfer them and see what happens (if anything). We can always do so later if some error comes up concerning missing afw.cat files.

Good luck!

Hi Lorien,

No problem with afw.cat files is belong to Bullguard program.

It's done, I deleted Secours account.

I'm surprise to discover that my new admin account "Old Admin" is automatically became into a user account, once I removed Secours.

I didn't move ntuser files ;)

Any change may prevent BSODs. Those drivers still must be updated. Once this problem is solved, we will all be glad to help. There are quite a few, but its not hard to do.
If you are not going to use that software, you should be OK with the driver. If you do get another BSOD, I will exmine the file and if its the same cause, we can remove the software and driver.

Which one ? From 2006 and 2007, there are a lot of drivers.

When opening an account, I have during 2 sec the blackscreen before dekstop appearing.

From on account to another account, I have a blackscreen during 4 sec before 'Welcome' display with all users accounts.

What do you think about it, richc46 ?

The bad news is any driver dated later than 2008 is old and can cause problems. Dont worry about it now. Lets see how this turns out. You may even have to reinstall the OS. The drivers are very easy. We will do it from Device Manager which is just a matter of a little time.
We can then go to the website for the important drivers to get the best ones.

I am not going to abandon you, and I know the others here will support you too.

The BSOD reports were quite clear, they were caused by that driver. Lets go with Richards suggestion and not use the software. If you do get other BSODs and its the same cause, then we can just change the extension to .bup or just unistall the software.
For now however, just concentrate on getting the main problem fixed. I have a feeling we may be talking about a reinstall. If that is the case we will help you set it up and you will be problem free.

Good, make another Administrator account just to be on the safe side - not to be used except in emergencies but there in case something happens to your only Administrator account. And I'm not counting the one I'm suggesting below but one totally separate and apart and with no plans to ever use unless there's no other choice.

I cannot explain why Old Admin changed from an Admin to a standard user or why you can't change it back. I haven't a clue as to the reasons. I do not know how to fix this except to try creating another Administrator account and again trying the transfer of Old Admin to the new account and see if you can get it to stay as an Administrator account (and not change any other account in the process).

Good luck!

bonjour Lorien,

Maybe it was because Vista considerated Secours as a user account and Old Admin was an admin account. Rights are different.

Maybe do I need to create user account, then transfer files and change this new user account into admin account.

bonjour Ashanta,

Perhaps you are right. I sincerely don't know. It shouldn't make any difference in the long run - even if the transfer changes the account from Admin to Standard, another Admin should be able to change it back to an Admin. It shouldn't lock out the option. Try it whichever way you think will work best (I don't have a preference to suggest). If it works, great. If not, then perhaps try it the other way and see if you meet with better success.

Remember when transferring the files that there are three that should not be transferred per the instructions - if you move those, it might cause the problem (though frankly I'm not sure what happens if those three files are moved other than that the instructions say they shouldn't and so I've never tried doing it and ignoring those instructions to see what happens).

Good luck!

That is it. That is what we see in the minidumps. GMER regularly causes BSoDs, but if you don't restart it, it won't happen again. Either leave them be, or delete everything to do with GMER, including that driver, and the original package. But it doesn't matter. It won't happen again BECAUSE of GMER unless you specifically run it.

Frankly, I don't know. I would say definitely ntuser.pol. The other three I do not recognize. I would transfer them also because that's what the procedure says to do. But if you decide not to, at least save them somewhere else temporarily in case it turns out they are needed.
