Uninstall Call of Duty

I STILL have the same question Brink about the tool I sent you. Will it not work? Have you tried it? I ask because I trust that YOU try programs before you recommend them. It's purpose, as I understood it, is to solve problems like Amplid is having, getting the last hardcore "ranger" elements of a program off your computer so you can reinstall it.

I thought about that program too, but it does not support the 64 bit Vista version though. :(

HexManiac, the one you said isn't in there, does this mean it's off of my pc? The ones that are in there are:
Amplid

That is the wrong key. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Activision\

and delete the entire Call of Duty 2 key.

Your capture shows the:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Uninstall

key.

Have you TRIED it on the 64 bit? It worked on my 64 bit. LOL Didn't we have this conversation before? I'm asking seeking knowledge, not to second guess you bro, but when you said that before you misread the documentation. I'm wondering if you've sought further info as you are WAY more in touch with this stuff than I am. The link I sent you is supposed to be the 64 bit version.

EDIT: and it IS a Microsoft tool that the microsoft dudes and dudettes use, heck they used it on my machine...........

Ok Hexmaniac, I did what you said and went where you told me to go, but there isn't an Activision folder anymore, only this one:

When I do the 'Find next' button for Activision, all it finds now is this under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/LowRegistry/Audio/PolicyConfig/Propertystore , but I dare not delete that one, or am I allowed to, Hexmaniac? Brink?

No, don't do any deleting. Use this and see if you can see if Call of Duty 2 install config still exists.

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

If you see Call of Duty 2 using this utility, delete it. Then you should be good.

Hey amplid,

Just Reinstall the game, that would let you uninstall it properly without all this registry editing and deleting files yourself. It would also reduce the risks of accidentally removing a vital system component or file and causing a bigger problems.

My Computer

If I'm understanding correctly Dmex, he can't. I have had the same problem with two different games, HALO2 and COD (the original). I uninstalled them but SOMETHING didn't get all the way uninstalled. You can't re install them because it says they are there and you can't uninstall them again because when you try that it says they AREN'T there lol. Does that make sense? The tool I found is supposed to take care of that. When I find it, I'll send it to you as well. I think you'll like it.

EDIT: And unlike me you will know how and when to use it lol.

Hexmaniac it isn't in the Windows Installer Clean Up list (that's what you meant, right?)...

Yes dmex, but I can't reinstall it, first of all because I can't through the disc and second of all, because it's not in my 'All programs' anymore, unless you know another way to reinstall it?

Here is the link to the description, a link to the program is around the middle of that page:

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Amplid, I HIGHLY SUGGEST, that unless you really know what you are doing, to let Brink and/or Dmex look at it first. Also note what it says about not using it on Office2007.

Here is part of the description from the readme file:

WHAT IS THE WINDOWS INSTALLER CLEAN UP UTILITY?
The Windows Installer Clean Up Utility is a tool that can be used to remove Windows Installer configuration management information if a problem occurs.

*** NOTE: The Windows Installer Clean Up Utility should not be used to remove the 2007 Microsoft Office System installation information. ***

The Windows Installer configuration management information can become damaged if any of the following issues occur:

- The computer's registry becomes corrupted.

- A registry setting that is used by the Windows Installer is
inadvertently changed, and this change results in a problem.

- The installation of a program that uses Windows Installer (for
example, Microsoft Office 2003) is interrupted.

- There are multiple instances of a setup program running at the same time, or
an instance of a setup program is "blocked."

There is more, but that is the brief description.

you did? Have it installed I mean. Then maybe you did something wrong because it should bring up something different than your install/un install programs list. It did on mine. I can help you no further on this as quite simply, I lack the knowledge to comment further. I would if I could but I'm too old to make guesses to try to sound smart about things I know little about. LOL I don't even know how to run the program I linked. I just know that someone ELSE used it successfully for me. Sorry bro that i can't help you, with my limited knowledge, I tried.

I glad that worked. I do InstallShield and MS Installer work on the job and that was all I had left. I was thinking some programmer put something in there that wasn't supposed to be in there. Way to stick with it, though. Most people would have bailed on this type of problem after a couple of failures.
