If the file really is JPEF, the problem is that it is not JPEG - probably just a typo somewhere along the way. Fix that and assuming it isn't too big, it should work fine. If not, convert the image to a filetype that is acceptable. It doesn't show a list (it may if you pick one that isn't acceptable - I'm not sure), but I'm sure the standard ones like JPG, GIF, BMP, etc... are fine.

To delete e-mail notifications, go to User CP, click Edit Options, and choose to prevent emails from administrators, prevent emails upon receipt of private messages, and/or receive no email notification for subscribed threads. It may take a few moments to kick in so give it some time - but eventually the changes you make will become effective.

Well,

I was going to a works do, with a combination of loads of snow & ice.

Must have looked like a cartoon adventure, floating horizontal kicking like a mad man, followed by a thud with me landing flat on my back.

Problem occurred when I used my left arm to prevent the thud! I only got a click & that was that. broken at the elbow & I've been told I have got to wait until Monday to visit the fracture clinic as they are too busy.

So, I'm not alone, not that that is any comfort.

My condolances MWRed - those events are never pleasant and as I'm 54, I'm afraid I'm about to see more of those than I do of weddings and baby showers.

Being at home most of the time (except very rarely), I wear Walmart house slippers which are very comfortable (even when I go out sometimes as I can't justify spending money on shoes I'm going to use monthly or possibly less than that. Although we have no children, I'm old enough to be a granddad (geez, I never thought I'd get this old - but I suppose it's better than the alternative).

I have to get back to the threads as I have a LOT of posts to catch up on - too many, in fact (and some are going to take quite a bit of research before replying). I need to change some of my habits to keep this from happening as much as it does.

I have a gathering in a few days time as well. It is not a funeral, because we don't have the body yet, because it has gone to medical science, because it sadly could not be used for organ donations - too many organs have been ruined by cancer.

I never really thought of 54 as grandparents age - probably because my grandparents were at the minimum 77, and have all passed away now, and my parents are 55 and 53.

You have to remember some of us are "children of the 60's" or thereabouts, and having children at a young age was somewhat more common - and once that started in a family, it had a habit of continuing on to the next generation.

It seems to me that people in general (with MANY exceptions) tend to wait longer these days to have children - perhaps to have time to devote to building a career or advanced education, or maybe to build up enough cash reserves to be comfortable and not need to scrimp and save to get by, or maybe because they feel they need more time to be prepared for the responsibilities (or parts of all of that and other things as well).

We have moved on from there, but still there is a tendancy for some to have children very young. My parents wanted to explore the world, and advance in their career, before being tied down by me, for I am their eldest. Very sensible. I don't know where America is, but the UK has some very bad attitudes.

There is still a large binge drinking culture, although this has fallen in the last few years very dramatically.

But the biggest issue is still teen pregnancy. Britain has a massively high rate for this. We have enormous problems. And part of the problem is the law. We don't advertise the law, but it allows teens between the age of 13-16 confidentiality from their parents. It also makes it extremely difficult to push anything against them. We sometimes can't even make them turn up to compulsory rehabilitation.

Under the age of 13, and I have seen an 11 year old, then things get really messy. The police literally whip into anyone this young, and you can get expelled, a criminal record, rehabilitation, and the social services up at the child and the parents.

I don't know where this will go. The attitude is still quite strongly "go to a nightclub, get hammered, and take things as far as possible" Until we can shift this attitude, this problem will never be eradicated. By the time that happens, I will no longer be any part of my current role (being over the age of 16 and useless to them), my trainers will probably have retired, and a whole new crew will be at CEOP and the NHS.

Our efforts just seem so futile. This may be only part of our work, but it is one of the hardest parts.

For someone "part-time" you still do post quite a bit - more than all but a very few here (and far surpass everyone when you're full-time - but then again, with your posting volume, there's that much less for the rest of us to do).

As a member of this wonderful forum, I feel it is my primary responsiblity to post as quickly as possible. WE should have as a priority, service to the OP rather than the number of posts we have.
