as a matter of fact, as of today i was having the same issue.. EXACTLY like yours after i removed nero.. tried cleaners , even a special NERO cleaner.. and nothing... then i went into the registry and deleted all teh keys associated with nero under
I removed everything I could find in the registry under Auto play handlers. Now Power DVD does not show up when I put a disk in or on the auto play option, so that problem is sorted. The other problem now is whenever I insert a disk Auto play comes up for a few seconds and goes away again. I have done everything I can think of and all that has been suggested in this theread, any one know how to get auto play coming up each time without it going away again, it does'nt even come up long enough so you can select what option you would like.
I would be grateful for any advice on how to fix this annoying problem.
ok..yeah that definetly weird, i assume u went into control panel, then auto play and set everything to default and saved changes... depending on what u set it to do..auto will just open the default program u selected it to open when u insert whatever media... so really auto play wont show a list , it'll just open what u told it to..try setting it to "ask me everytime" that'll briung up the list of options in autoplay and it SHOULD stay on till u select what u want..i think it has a timer not sure dont remember
Yes I have defaulted it to choose a default app, and changed it to ask me everytime to all of them and the same thing happens it auto play comes up and goes away any other ideas?
I would reinstall Vista but that's just me. But if you can live with it I wouldn't even bother unless you really want it to do it. I also don't have any more ideas that you could do to fix it.
When you say "goes away", do you mean that it disappears altogether, or is it minimised to the task bar?
Just one more thought. Do you have any features in the Ease of Access Center activated? In particular, I am thinking about an option in Make the mouse easier to use.
Check the section Make it easier to switch between windows and ensure that the option Activate a window by hovering over it with the mouse is Unchecked, as shown in the image above. Click on Save to save your changes. If, by chance, it is already unchecked, you might like to check it, save changes, and then repeat to uncheck.

After trying everything that has been suggested I thought that it would be a good idea to start a new slate again. Everything is working fine now. I do thank you very much for all your support that you have offered me in trying to fix this problem.
