AGREED! calhounhusker; That was not the intent of my original whole name referral.
It was to point out that being honest and laying all the cards on the table is what is expected by [most] constituents. "Transparency", I believe it is commonly referred to as...
After all, wasn't that one of the common complaints of the last administration?

I meant to point out that in the '50's there was a comic book known as the 'MAD' Magazine, hitting the book racks. It was really crazy and on the edge for that time in America. All us nutty kids thought it was great, especially their commonly depicted poster child.

Anyone remembering the old 'Mad Magazine' will recall the kid to whom I refer, ALFRED E. NEWMAN. Usually accompanying his picture was, "What, Me Worry?"

Well with everything else all I can say is Here in California we are planning on grabbing both ankles and gets some thermal lube as they are getting ready to jam it you know where for raising taxes and fees. Man do I miss Texas! Spent most of my life there but then had to accept the job here to support my family. Don't get me wrong, at least I still have a job and my family is happy and healthy. With a 9 month old and a 3 1/2 year old along with a wife that does not work, it is pretty tight. Why is it that the big companies squander so much money then get our tax dollars after they mess up? Why is it that the Gov't will downsize the defense of our country then pass huge pay raises for them selves? Cut Billions on education and health care? Yet spend a Trillion on war in another country! Good ole Uncle Sam should be listed as one of those sex offenders for raping the country of the USA! OHHHHHHH am I ranting yet?

o and in the new stimulus package lets give some money to the arts counsel and waste another few million i mean really people........ they are wasting our tax dollars and putting us in debt so they can ride in their energy effective cars while we pay for it

you guys all complain about ur political problems in america, you have no idea until you become a uk 'citizen'. were doing so bad, most of us are being placed into literal slavery. im trying to get back into college, which apparantly is no longer allowed for some reason, and whats more most of us cretins cant even handle 4 centimetres of snow. its so bad its laughable.

We Americans do complain. And we honestly can't begin to understand what and how other countries people feel and are going through with the worldwide economy as such. I can only expect that things will get much worse for everyone in the world before they get better. The Unemployment rate is raising daily in all the world and hostilities are growing among neighbors. I simply wish that everyone would take a step back and look for things that we should be thankful for. I know it is just very hard to do in these times at hand. Every day I see my two small sons and I worry about what the future will hold for them. All I can do is work hard, show them what Honesty and Integrity is, teach them to be truthful and protect them. But every day when I come home they just light up and run to hug me so no matter what else happens I always have the greatest gift that life has to offer each and every day. I thank GOD for that!

very true........ and if people would look at the way this country was founded and turn back to the one who made this a great country all our problems would be alot less......... but now....... you can't pray in schools, the ten commandments are gone, and they are trying to push it to be legal to do stuff that has always been immoral

Seriously, It is interesting how often the majority of the people refer to God.
Islamic, over-the-edge-type of religion is not a good thing, but having it like it "was a few years ago" was certainly not a religious inquisition.
It was a nice time when every morning in school people would say the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord's Prayer... and the people who didn't want to join in just Shut Up! And, 'gay' meant being happy and carefree... and 'being stoned' was scoring a swig of draught beer behind the Elks dance hall

yes, my first post is already a dangerous one. I hope my brandnew account will not be closed in no-time.

I want to comment some important quotes and share my thoughts, being an "outsider" (european). Please don't feel offended because that is the last thing I want to do. I just want to share my feelings and thoughts about this topic.

I honestly feel that the whole world is just happy that Bush is out.

That is certainly true, all he did - from the viewpoint of a young european, averagely interested in overseas politics - is messing up things. We could go into detail here, but it seems all people agree that it's a good thing he is gone now. So there's really no need for it.

Everyone seams to hate the US yet when things get bad they all ask for a hand out.

Well... saying that you as an average american think that most countrys of the world are constantly asking the US to help them out, is interesting. It seems to be a sign of this mysterious disease widespread in the US, causing the need to act like a global policeman. That's directly leading to the next quote:

I often wonder what the world would be like if the US decided back in 1861 to simply keep to it's own boarders and leave the rest of the world to tend for itself? Would the wars that go on daily globally be there or would those people simply be gone?

Boom... there it is again. I must admit you are not that self-centered as the cliché-american should be, but you think at least a bit "without-us-nothing-would-be". The world did fine without the colonies the US started as, they would also do fine without the whole continent. Wait a moment now, don't pile wood and try to burn me, if you read the sentence again, you will see I'm not saying the USA are bad, or the world would be better if they would'nt exist. That would be straightforward bull****. Also I have no antipathy against the US, hence some differences at political decisions made by some politicans... but to sum it up: I like the USA, I was there several times and I would hate to miss all the great things coming from there. But the world is not centered around that country. And the world would still spin around, people would work, create, and yes... wage war against each other, just like today.

With out the US to point a finger at who would the rest of the world point at to blame for things?

History tells us, that nothing is easier than finding a scapegoat.

I myself and proud to be called an American again and wish that this new Administration keeps up the great work.

Hey guy, I feel it's important to add this: I hope that you are proud of your country just as I'm proud of my country. Everyone should, as long as you can keep the perfect ratio between patriotism and blindness. Im not talking about you personally but generally... as it seems not like you are one of the fanatic guys. I also wish for myself and of course the rest of the world, including the US, that the new government is not only hot air, but manages to improve things and get the USA ready for the 21 century. Just like every country in the world should.

That was great!
I spent a few years stationed in Munich. I am happy to say I was the only American in the Munich American Street Machines then. That was 1989. I sure miss when the Autobahn had no speed limit, slamming the pedal down on that 89 Supercharged Trans-Am barking the tires going from 4th to 5th gear at 110 MPH. That baby would hit just over 300KPH. The first experience I had in Germany was getting seated with perfect strangers when the whole place was empty. At first it felt odd but then it was great!

I see your point and I agree with you. America does not have the right to be the world police force but then again I bet the Jewish people were happy that we were. No disrespect intended. I mean to say that someone has to be the big brother and try to keep some sort of peace. Granted we stick our nose in way to many places that America should simply stay out of their business.

You bring up something that I have had on my mind for a long time.

I would call it 'Acute Isolationism with a Paranoid twist of Protectionism'. Defined simply as America having a HUGE arsenal of Nuclear weapons and delivery systems, a Huge modern military and a Huge and cutting edge air force; with a Reagan Star-Wars protective canopy. There would be a 50 foot tall endless wall around the United States with manned quad 20mm's every 50 feet and mandatory live-fire practice ever 2 hours.

The U.N. building would have a bulls-eye painted on all sides. The 'nuts' would be invited to bring their own airplane and get the correct building this time.

Our no-BS policy would be "touch us and pull back a stump" ...The rest of the world, you are on your own, "sink or swim"!

Oh, almost forgot I would be the Commander and Chief...

Seriously though, the whole world is in a transitional phase and a lot of people the world over are having a bad time of it due to one reason or another.

Countries really need to pull their heads in, take a very healthy dose of Common Sense and Logic pills and then realistically address issues. Not these band aid, distracting tactics they currently employ now.
