Latest NVIDIA ForceWare Video Drivers

Yeah, it worked no problems and used ntune's latest version enabled both my 8800 GTX OCII in SLi.
I do really like that 780i SLi mobo from evga and when it died, it also messed up my confidence in their products, but I am now rested at how fast this replacement worked so well.
Another happy customer. :p

Did you stick with the 780 or upgrade to the 790i Ultra?

Stuck with 780i, not upgrading to the 790i Ultra..which requires DDR3 RAM, anyways, I'm happy with this 780i mobo...runnin' perfect:)

Does it require DDR3 or does it use DDR3 along with the rest of the earlier versions? I thought it was compatible with everything up to DDR3 but looking at my stuff (box, manual, ect) right now and I don't see it saying anything either way. Damn I hate when I think I know something and go back to verify and can't find it lol.

In addition to John's (z3r010) post, a BETA driver version is a pre-released (test) version of the final WHQL certified driver version before it is released.

I think I tried that one and it caused my system to not let me reset my resolution and I had to go back to the driver setup from end of last year....
I have dual SLI 6800GS in mine... if that makes sense..

According to the nvidia site I am using the 163.75 set...it is stating I get the 175.16 set.. but as I stated above I believe I did that just over a week ago and was unable to get my resolution back to where it was... so I had top uninstall those and go back to this one...

Any thoughts?

I couldn't get 1920X1200 out of 175.16, it would only go to 1680X1050.
I went back to 175.63 beta to get the correct res and it hasn't done anything untoward so far.
Am I just dumb or is there a way to get the correct res out of 175.16.

Hi hkancyr,

Try uninstalling the driver so that you are back to using the basic VGA driver as supplied in the original Vista installation. Although my screen resolution is 1440x900, I wasn't able to upgrade from 169.25 to 175.16 (it wouldn't even install) without performing this step. After a restart, the 175.16 driver installed without a hitch and, upon a further restart, I was able to set the correct resolution for my monitor. If you still can't get the correct resolution from this procedure, then repeat it and install the other driver. Incidentally, where are you getting this driver from? It doesn't appear on the NVidia website.

Hi Hkancyr,

In addition to Dwarf's post:

I had the beta 175.16 installed, so I uninstall it before I installed the WHQL (signed) 175.16 version. Afterwards, I was able to get a 1900x1200 res.

I would try to uninstall the current one first, then install the new one.

Prior to installation I uninstalled and used Driver Cleaner Pro in the safe mode and got the standard VGA driver going. I found the problem and thought something must be wrong with my procedure for installation. I had previously shut off a bunch of startup apps and remembered that Norton was still running. So I went through the complete uninstall again and shut off Norton for an hour and reinstalled, same deal no 1920X1200. Very strange, never happened before but at least the BSOD's aren't bothering me.
Anyhow, I located 175.63 from a search a few days ago after having a problem in Crysis with 169.44. I got them from Guru3D.com. They have been running beautifully, but when I heard of the new WHQL driver I went for it. Betas have left a bad taste in my mouth since all the early driver problems with x64 last year.
I also wonder if there isn't a setting in the nvidia control panel that my alleviate this prob. I see a task there for managing custom resolutions, could that be what I would need to work on? I didn't look at this CP when 175.16 was installed.

That's cool but what does it mean lol. SHould I try them are wait until they are Alpha?

LOL Alpha comes before Beta :sarc:

If your current drivers are working fine and you are not a proformace mad gamer, dont bother.

Yeah but if you are a dog you want to be the ALPHA dog, not the beta dog lol. In a sled pack, if you aren't the alphadog, the view (and smell) is always the same.

Thanks Sahwn, guess I otter try the new drivers. Here goes nothing lol.
