Looks like the recovery discs are corrupt.
You can't start the recovery partition in the normal way since the mbr changed when trying to install XP.
Try this :
X:\sources>DISKPART
DISKPART> SELECT DISK 0
Disk 0 is now the selected disk.
DISKPART> SELECT PARTITION 2
Partition 2 is now the selected partition.
DISKPART>ACTIVE
Diskpart marked the current partition as active.
DISKPART> EXIT
Leaving DiskPart...
Then close command prompt and restart. Remove the cd before retarting, obviously.
If you are lucky you will boot into the recovery partition and you can recover from there.
