Solved Hjt logs?

Keep trying on the internet scanner- try it with the 32-bit IE8 (if need be, restart Windows)

Ok I did the Samsung Bad Sector test with the samsung diagnostics disk and that said there were no bad sectors on the drive about a week ago. Do I still need to do this again?

Its up to you-Windows does more than check for bad sectors. It fixes file system errors, etc.

I'll just do the system error scan for now. Does it give a report at the end of what it has done?

Hi

No luck on the NOD 32 scan, I did all the AV and spy ware scans yesterday nothing was found. I have been using reg cleaners for months now. However I only remove things that it says are safe with a green tick next to it. The system seems to run ok though despite the corrupted files.

The error scan ended it didn't display anything

I know you said about system restore but I don't use it, everytime I had tried to use it in the past I just kept getting system restore was unable to complete the restore. I guess the next stage is for me to either do a repair install/ reinstall.

I would stop using reg cleaners if I was you. They are just gimmick software that do more harm then good. Check out the link I posted about them.http://www.vistax64.com/software/212354-do-not-use-registry-cleaners.html

I would re-install Vista then when you have everything installed (including all Windows updates), and set up the way you want it, make a ghost image-for quick re-install at a later point. Yoy can save it to your second HDD, also I would perform weekly backups of your data using Vista's Backup file utility (this backs up your User data).

Here is the free imaging software:Free Drive Backup Express - disk backup software

You have Windows and PROGRAM file corruption:

Hate to say it but no he isn't. None of those files are "missing", that is just what HJT throws up when it is run on a 64 bit OS. Those files are all there, it is just that HJT can't "see" the 64 bit versions of them in the System32 folder. Don't forget that HJT is only a 32 bit app and to get it to not say that about those files it needs to be re-written to either fully support 64 bit Windows, or made to see the 32 bit versions in the SysWOW64 folder.

Good point. Apparently Trend Micro Hijack this is not 64-bit Compatable. File Corruption Info should be disregarded. Rep'd

I do not know that for sure, but you are probably ok as there were no Windows integrity Violations, or File attribute corruption.
Stop using the regcleaners-unless you know the exact function of the entry it wants to "clean". It is recommended here to use CCLEANER. If you have no problems- just do the image and backups-

ps-I ran the Hijack this on my own x64 system, and I got the same C:\Windows\system32 missing files as you.

Ok thanks for your help. The system seems to work ok so i take it there cant be any major corrupt files. Are there any other programs that can analysis the pc like HJT? Also that program you linked to, can you set it up to do a back up every week? As I am using Home premuim I dont have the full backup uititly to allow me to do a complete backup of the system I can only select certain files and folders.

See above edited post-

The file backup utility in Vista will backup all your User data file-but not Windows files, can be set for automatic weekly backup. For full PC backup use the Free Paragon imaging software I linked for you-It allows you to create a disk image of all your partitions (same functions as Vista's Complete PC backup and restore utility).

For analysis I would use the Diagnostics I also posted in the second post.

The key to any reg cleaner is knowing what is safe to delete (like old removed programs), As for the Backup and Imaging-I would either use a second Hard drive or external drive for both.

The file backup can be restored either through Windows backup utility itself or through the disk. The image should be restored through the bootable disk you will be given the option to create.

Any ideas about IE 8 it still wont run the NOD32 scanner everytime I go to the link it just crashes. IE works fine on other sites and online scanners.

Yep-

In the event you upgrade to large cap hard drives, or suffer catastrophic corruption of Windows, simply boot into the Paragon recovery boot disk, point it to the Image, then When installed, simply restore the file backup from the backup and restore center, and your system will be exactly as it was the date you made the image, and your User files/data will be the same as the last sucessful backup.

eset NOD32 scanner-

I just tried it with the 32-bit browser running under compatability mode. It takes a minute or so for the UAC prompt to appear, after that it loads properly. try it again.

EDIT: It needs Admin rights- Right click the 32-bit IE8, and "run as Admin" then go to the scanner

Evidently there is a problem with the scanner under IE8 and the browser just closed due to add-on malfunction. Dont worry about it, or try this: NOD32 4.0

Ok,

I have attached a picture of what happens as soon as I enter the web site this is what happens. I am unable to run IE8 in compatibility mode because it says its part of the windows version and you cannot set its compatibility.

Ok,

I have attached a picture of what happens as soon as I enter the web site this is what happens. I am unable to run IE8 in compatibility mode because it says its part of the windows version and you cannot set its compatibility.

I got a add-on malfunction in IE8. Apparently the add-on scanner is not IE8 compatable yet. See EDITED post above.
