System restore didn't work? I really expected it to...
Best for now is probably to look for the problematic "hardware" in device manager. Press Windows, type device manager and press enter. Look for an item that has any warning sign next to it (it's probably under Other Devices, though it might be under Imaging devices since it thinks it's a camera...). Once we find the one that is causing the issue, you need to right click on it and select Uninstall -- careful before uninstalling devices from the computer, I suggest listing the problematic ones here and get a second opinion before uninstalling devices from the computer.
Another thing to try is Windows Update (press Windows, type Update in the start search and press enter). Install whatever updates you may find there.
There have been two service packs released for Vista (SP1, and SP2), both should be found in Windows Update. Each takes a little time to install, but they fix a lot of issues. To see if they're installed, press Windows+Pause/Break. Under Windows Edition, it should say Service Pack 1, 2, or nothing. Make sure you have SP2.
Did you install Vista yourself, or did you get it pre-installed with your computer?
