DX11 if you cant wait for MS

OK we all know DX11 is coming out for Vista , probably not until SP3 though (so the rumour mill goes) BUT if you cant wait.....................

Thanks for this. Since installing one of my Vista boots now takes 3 times as long to get past the scrolling bar stage.



Hopefully that will eventually iron itself out.

mine did too but only for the first boot , it was ok after that

Mines improved a bit now.

dx11 on my laptop did no difference to any of the performance.
probably because i don't have integrated graphics that support dx 11!

this may well be my last ever pc upgrade.

I had already decided not to upgrade anymore and The world Economy has helped me decide even more. I mean, rumor has it that even MW2 is a port (how ever good that may get to be).

I see DX11 as a gimmick for the " I have to buy the latest and the greatest" pc geeks... not that there is anything wrong with that if you have the money to burn... wish I did.

yeah there was a time when pc games were made for pc's not for consoles then ported over to pc's

there was a time when a game like crysis could be tweaked so that DX9 looked as good as DX10 but gave you 10-25 more fps , back then DX10 was a gimmick just a massive hole in your fps for no visual improvement , it could all be acheived by tweaking the hundreds of avaialable settings in the games cfg

now DX11 is here and the only settings we will have is on or off and graphics settings will be low , medium or high , leaving us no choice but to spend 3 grand just to be able to look at games in DX11 without it being a slideshow

look at operation flashpoint 2 , the whole game is just a joke , no settings to speak of no servers only p2p online gameplay , it was only 18 quid but thats only because its only worth 1.99

its a sad state of affairs for the PC gamer nowadays , WE put call of duty where it is today WE made them as big as they are now and they repay us buy releasing the next modern warfare with NO dedicated server support its all turning into a bit of a joke

Buy an X Box , who needs anti alaising on anisotropic filtering , who needs high resolution gaming????????????????????????? we do , but theres no point anymore

consoles usually have limited graphics. (from my limited knowledge)
the better rig you have, the better the gameplay on pc.

Wait im confused the hd 5770 has an amazing spec 850 core clock 800 proccessor cores
yet the forums says that the gtx 275 is better iim rreally confused lol!! It has 800 proccessor cores the gtx 275 has 240 lol am i right or just confused lol!

I played GTAIV to death on the 360. Then I switched to the PC version when it was released.

Last week, for sh*ts and giggles I had a quick go on the 360 version again and I could not believe how ugly it is by comparison. It was as if the screen had been smeared with Vaseline

I figure I have one more big upgrade left which hopefully will last until the next gen of consoles are released.

I've always been a PC gamer at heart, but as you pointed out Arch, it is becoming pointless.

They'd be roughly the same. Although the drivers need to mature a bit for it. 5770=4870 in performance

Although the 5770 has the advantage of lower power consumption than the 275.

This is still an issue with DX11 cards still not showing DDI 11 under the display tab in Windows 7. Hopefully they give some fix for that in Windows 7 now, as this isn't for it.

yup i have started upgrading already , mobo cpu ram psu arrived , it was going i this rig but the wifes gonna buy me the new NVidia gpu on release for christmas and combined birthday pressie i think its only going to be used for Battlefield bad company 2 though as its all that seems any good (it does look good though YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. ,, X Box ersion unfortunately)

EA and Dice have been all over the fact that thier fully supporting PC versions on this
