Where are you getting your drivers from? At ATI's website you should be able to just dowload the drivers without the CCC panel.

Also, do you have an AGP card?

hd26xx dont have agp if i can remember....

it should all be pci-e

Yes i got the driver only from their site. AGP card? Sorry just learning here.

Just to be clear, Everything was working including the ccc prior to the driver update.

256 mb is the card size if this helps? Also i want to thank you all for your help ahead on time.

yes, i just did a sr after the driver download to get things working a month or more ago. The original driver was dated 6-07.

Hmmm....definitely sounds like AGP to me.

Try these drivers - http://support.ati.com/ics/support/KBAnswer.asp?questionID=31625. They're the AGP hotfix drivers (8.12)

This puppy just refuses to work. I think i will just do a sr a leave it alone. Kinda pisses me of that a driver update has to be so complicated. Maybe they need to get their **** togeather at ati or is it just me?

go down until you see this...

With System Configuration - msconfig

follow how to get to msconfig and follow until you get to startup....

there uncheck any ATi programs.....

if not then just unnistall it...

Darkassain, I am not getting any errors on start up. I just wanted to update the driver. That's it. But why in gods name does a driver update stop the ccc from working properly? I personally do not think that a simple driver update should do this. Thank you for working to help me with this.

What brand of video card do you have? Also it would really help to know whether you have an AGP, PCI or PCI-e express card. I'll say you don't have the PCI-e card, but...you need to know this. If you're not sure how to do this, maybe you can have someone look at your computer and tell you.

also if you do not know and this computer was prebuilt by an OEM (hp Dell just name a few...) can you give the product model of the computer.....

after looking for the specs i found it to be a pci-e card. thanks ps this is a oem xps 420 as stated in my system specs.

Sygnus 21, I wish i would have known agp/pci/pci-e was specificaly needed to continue before downloading drivers for the apg card. My bad! Also changed my system specs to reflect pci-e. As for the brand of card it was at the first post.
(edit) and one more thing sygnus 21, If i had someone to come and look at my computer to see what card i had i would not be here asking for help! Like i said just learning.

It's just that you said you didn't know what AGP was. I was just asking you if you had someone physically look at the computer. I meant no harm.
