Crysis 64bit

Hi guys, I believe this "Crysis Warhead has stopped working" crap is caused by drivers. Mine was working fine until after the last 3 driver upgrade. Don't remember the previous two but the last one is 185.20 just came out. Some glitches even show up in Crysis 1 I had'nt noticed before. However, I have find out that the problem seems go away after the first few stages which I hadn't find out yet 'cus I was busy playing FC2 and just finished first round of Dead Space. The new drivers is helpful for the this other games. How nVidia patch the problem real quick.

Cheers,
Bruce

Strange, mine starts fine from an icon on my desktop, it also runs in 64 bit from the desktop from the shortcut from install and runs in DX10 automatically, and to check you are running in 64 bit, you could control+alt+delete and see if your crysis.exe has a *32 next to it.

Lordvader, to have an icon on the desktop, just navigate to C:/program files(x86)/electronic arts/crytek/crysis/bin64/crysis.exe right click this file and send to> desktop(create shortcut), to place an icon in your game folder, open the game folder up and drag the new icon to the game folder

in that Folder there are 2 Options
1 Crysis
2 Crysis64

But not a - Crysis.exe ICON

which one should i put on my desktop ?
Thxs for ur help
the exe isnt showing because you are hiding extentions for known file types, heres a few images to help you understand.
furthermore, right click the "crysis" file and send to desktop(create shortcut)

thanks again :)

Was messing around on Crysis Warhead trying to fix the bad fps I was getting (under 10) on enthusiast 1680x1050.

In my search on the Internet, I came across how to enable the ingame ambient occlusion, which I find makes a huge difference at no performance loss (I was already getting bad performance, so I don't think I'd have noticed any more anyway).

To enable it, you need to add a few commands to your configs in the Crysis Warhead directory (not sure these commands work on Crysis, I'll have to get the disk off a friend and try it). Once in your Crysis directory, go to Game>Configs and open the difficulty config you use.

I used diff_easy.cfg for this as I've already completed it.

con_restricted=0
r_SSAO = 1
r_ssao_quality = 1
r_ssao_radius = 2
r_ssao_amount = 0.55
r_SSAO_darkening = 1.3

Just copy and paste them parameters at the end of your config and fire Warhead up and you should notice the lighting straight away. I tried editing the values, but them values seem to be the "sweet spot" for it.

The next part I found seemed to fix the bad fps, and stop all the "pop up textures" that seem blurred from a distance and load in as you got nearer.

sys_budget_videomem = 512*
r_TexturesStreaming=0

*Change value to however much VRAM you have on your graphic card. If you have 1GB of VRAM, then change to 1024 etc.

Copy these to the end of the config again. I set mine to 512 and the performance felt a lot smoother for me. Apparently, Crysis Warhead only uses 256mb VRAM by default, no idea if that's actually true, but the performance increase from that command seems to justify it for me.

The TextureStreaming command does what I said before and gets rid of that "pop up texture" problem.

I'm not sure if these work in Crysis, I'll test it myself when I get the disk off a friend, which will be next week.

Think I'll have a replay of Warhead this weekend though at max graphics.

I'll add some screenshots tomorrow of the ambient occlusion, too.

Copy these to the end of the config again. The performance for me shot up and was very playable with the 512 value, but as I have two video cards, I upped it to 1024 and now the performance is amazing. Not checked the fps though, will do that tomorrow. Apparently, Crysis Warhead only uses 256mb VRAM by default, no idea if that's actually true, but the performance increase from that command seems to justify it for me.

Hi Everlong, great info. Thank you.

I would like to ask you if for my system config, use different ram value such that sys_budget_videomem = 640 instead? I am going to give it a try tonight.

Thanks,
Bruce

Yea I should have added that. Change it to the value you of the amount of memory your graphic card has, so yea it would be 640 for you, but you have SLI, so you might see better performance from setting it to 1280, like I did from setting mine to 1024 for my two 512mb cards.
