Cannot use right click on web sites to use functions

I hope this is the right one.

I looked at the file and all it did was making my head spin:o
I did notice on the bottom "All files and registry keys listed in this transaction have been successfully repaired". However further up the list it shows some files that could not be repaired

Yes, I have the PSC 2110 all in one scanner and "thought" that I had uploaded the up-dated soft ware. It does work, but I does not work completely normal. I can print via word processor, but not from the HP print manager. For scanning I have to use the buttons on the unit.

would that explain why I can copy from a web site while in Netscape but not in I.E?

I don't think so but who knows :).
Anyway, i have to get some sleep (quite late here).
For the printer it is not a big problem, if not fix today by somebody else, i will manage in the (my) morning (check it anyway).
Concerning the right click, i think (hope) there are some weird things which could be repaired in the registry. It must be so simple that i cannot see it right now.
All the best.

EDIT:
Could come from an activeX or addon, even a prog... So if you remember having installed this kind of things when the problem occured, it would help.

Hi Guys,

Cant we just export our IE context-menu reg settings then upload them for Johannes?

Run regedit and navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MenuExt

Here you can choose what to edit. Alternative, Vista Manager is a good program where you do this very easily

Hi dmex,

Not really, they're all quite different depending of each configuration and addons.
There are 4 places in the registry where the problem maybe comes from and we should have the reg files of each place to check.
Mainly it could come from some restriction policies but if i know how to restrict the context menu or things within it, i have never seen a policie restricting the click on non- greyed out options.

@ Johannes,

First, deinstall toolbar if you use any (google for example)

If still you have problems, do the following.

Open the registry (Start/Run/ type in: regedit then Enter)

Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies
Right click on Policies then choose Export in the context menu then save the reg file as hklm_policies.reg on your desktop for example.

Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Right click on Internet Explorer then choose Export in the context menu then save the reg file as hklm_IE.reg on same place than above.

Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Right click on Internet Explorer then choose Export in the context menu then save the reg file as hkcu_IE.reg on same place than above.

Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
Right click on Policies then choose Export in the context menu then save the reg file as hkcu_cvpolicies.reg on same place than above.

There are few other places where something could be hidden, but we'll eventually see later :(

EDIT:

Concerning your printer, go there: Software & Driver downloads HP PSC 2110 All-in-One
Run the auto check, on the same page you can doxnload the latest vista drivers.
(be careful, there are 3 versions of the PSC 2110 (2110, 2110V, 2110xi) the link above is for the 2110.

Can't he just *first* run IE Safe mode and see if it works? that will disable ActiveX addons and toolbar, correct?

:oI got already confused, I did get as far HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE but found no place.. \Error! etc. The problem I have is that no sooner I read the second line, I forgot already the first line. Would generating a log file with Hijackthis do the trick?

Hi John,
No, it made no difference. I am really puzzled why it does work in Netscape. One would think it has something to do with I.E.?

Hurrah, I did disable the google tool bar and now I can copy pictures, refresh/reload etc. My Heartfelt thanks to all of you who have helped me with this issue. I am extremely happy that I do not have to do more than this.

Netscape is not supported or updated. AOL shut them down last year.

That means no security updates or bug fixes.

Get a new web browser
before I beat you with old AOL floppy disks...:p

:D Yes I was going to download firefox as secondary browser. Should I delete/remove the Netscape browser or does it not matter.
