Building a PC

you should actually get 2000mhz ddr3 if you really want to crank you computer (depends if you overclock or not)
You should DEFINITELY WAIT!
SATA 3 is coming out soon so waiiiiit!!!
intel's SSD's are going down in price, that by the time that windows 7 is out, they will more than 1/3 off the price they are now.
Gulftown CPU's come out q1 next year, 6 cores, overclockers heaven.
just wait man, if you go for it now, you will be angry with yourself when something rocking hits you next year

ok well lets see its s single gpu...... and it gets 21 at 1980X1200 with 4AA,
and the 295 is a two gpu on one card...... and only gets 31 lets see.... that means its only wow 10fps slower, not a big difference, the real question is why can't your two core 295 do it? i mean really with the specs of a 295 it should be able to do it easy. but it can't so.... whats your point? :sarc:

everyone has said that they will be a flop because they picked some bad architecture, and only potentially :p for that matter the 5000 series has the potential to be 3x faster than the 4000 series, but that doesn't mean anything haha, and thats just to be safe :p never know what they might need haha

I guess you ready that on the Informer, or Register, can't remember which website had it, but he was basically talking out his arse and had no idea.

Where are you getting your numbers from? You're saying the 5000 series will be 3x faster, but before you said they will be 30% faster?

Because Crysis doesn't scale well with SLI? A 295 isn't two GPUs on 1 card. It's two PCBs each with a 260 chips w/ unlocked cores stuck together, so it's 2 cards in 1 PCI-E slot. And with Crysis being such a resource hog, I would take all benchmarks done on that with a very small pinch of salt.

Look at a game that does scale well, like Farcry 2.

i was pointing out that potentiality it could be, all those guys are doing right now anyway is giving out numbers, personally i think it will only be %30-%50 faster maybe, and i made those numbers up :p haha i was saying for all you know they could be making that up about the gt300 series

In the other thread you took the performance of the 4870x2, and a single 4890 and estimated the performance of a 4890 in CF based on a Tom's Hardware chart...

Hi Shadowsniper,

I would cut down on the case and the optical drive and put the money on the CPU and monitor. Blue ray drive is not very practical that this moment.

Here is a very nice monitor I recently purchased you may consider: Newegg.com - SAMSUNG 2343BWX High Glossy Black 23" 5ms 16:9 Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 20000:1 (DC) w/ HDCP Support - LCD Monitors

The over priced Boss needs to be replaced with these much better ones below within the same price range.
Newegg.com - Logitech X-540 70 watts 5.1 Speakers - Speakers
or
Newegg.com - M-AUDIO Studiophile AV 30 2.0 Compact Desktop Speaker System - Speakers

Hope everything works out for you and enjoy!

Bruce

I think I may get these parts and maybe wait till the 5XXX series comes out:

So are these good for a $2000 budget?

Yep. It looks good, although I agree with bruce2 on the screen and speakers.

The 4890 will still give you good performance to tide you over while you wait until both ATI and Nvidia have released thier cards and have given them time to release maturer drivers and let the pries drop a bit.

If i get a better monitor it would cost, and go over my budget. But i will get the 5.1 system.
Also i should get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106276 instead of the blu-ray drive, I may need a burner though...
