Crysis 64bit

Anyone else having problems with running this game in 64b? When loading it just hangs, DVDROM light does not even blink. Vista says there is a problem loading game. I have even adjusted the full screen mode, and also lowered the graphics from very high, to just high, which I shouldn't have to since I seem to believe my rig is capable of handling this game. I also installed the last NVidia drivers, and even reverted back to the last drivers, and still no go on 64.
Any help would be appreciated. :zip:

Also, I am not overclocking.

Thanks.

Negative... I installed it and ran it first time through w/o any issues. I just made sure I added a shortcut to my desktop that pointed to the bin64 folder instead. Even still, the 32-bit program ran fine for me as well. Have you had any other issues with running games?

My Computer

Yes as of matter of fact, I loaded GRAW and could not launch this from the games folder, same with Crysis. I even clicked "Run as Admin" and nothing. However, if I open my "C" drive, and launch it from the DVD, it will load. I did in fact add the 64exe to my desktop, and tried to install, still no luck. I having no luck finding out why my games do not launch in game's folder.

Just gotta give MS some time to fix issues with Vista, but I have been running this for 6 months and I like it...

My Computer

Well I don't think its a vista "issue" per say. If that was the case I think we'd here more people not being able to run it in x64. Have you tried a fresh install with all the latest drivers and direct x?

My Computer

Mine ran out of the box. When I tried to run from the 64bit icon it crashed. How do you check if you are running the 64bit when in game. I run from the games menu with no problems. If it is the 32bit then it runs fast. I think the icon in the game directory detects what os you have and runs the app associated. Any feedback would be a great help.

Crysis wont run from the Desktop icons I created from the C/crysis/64 bin etc.

I had to pin it to the start menu so I dont have to run through the files everytime.

It doesnt matter which 32 or 4 bit icons you place on Desktop they all hang and fail to run!

What is the reason no Desktop icons are created in 64 bit vista?

My Computer

Well there was no icon created on the desktop for me either. I made a shortcut to go to

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe"

No issues since day 1 install

Guys, Crysis was specifically made for Vista / DX10. Please hit START, GAMES, right click on CRYSIS, and launch DX10.

It will run the 64 bit version natively. Works like a charm.

No "hacks" or desktop icons needed.

Cheers.

I'm having the same problem as Darkman. Whenever I try to start the game, I get the Vista "Program has stopped working" message. I have absolutely no idea why. The only time I get further is when I click on that small Crysis 64-bit icon in the bin64 folder. Then I see "Crysis DX10" on the start bar and a black rectangle in the middle of my screen, immediately followed by a crash notification.

Did you try my solution above? I had the same issue trying to start it from an icon or from the file in the main folder.

When I go to WINDOWS GAMES, the actual games launcher, it works fine.

My Computer

I got it working. Now the only problem is that I just don't like it. It feels too much like Farcry, which I didn't like, either.

Farcry was made by the same developer. It stands to reason if you dont like farcry you wont like crysis. On another note I have found that running any game from the games directory works. I am of course reffering to gears of war.

To each his own. I think Far Cry was one of the greatest FPS games on the PC so far, right up there with HL, HL2, Bioshock, etc..

Crysis is great, but it's a resource hog. A 3-way SLI box (three 8800gtx cards) runs the game at 37fps highest settings, 1600 rez. VERY demanding.

when i run r_displayinfo = 1 it shows that I run the game in DX 10 but in 32 bit, not 64, even though im running Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition... how do i get this game to run in 64 bit not 32?

Yes, I know about the gaming folder that you can "right Click" and select the DirectX 10 from the menu. This does not work for me at all. I have to physically open "my computer" and launch it from the "Drive" that the "DVD" is in. I may have bigger issues than I realize. For one, my raid contoller is using the "Windows Vista Accelerator"....Not the "Nvidia Raid Controller". When I unistalled my Nvidia drivers through in Safe Mode, and tried to reinstall the new Nvidia drivers, I got an error saying I was trying to load a 64bit version onto a 32bit version. Then I got A BSOD.... temp dump. I did a system restore and all is fine.... I think. I do not have the time to figure this out right now. Thanks to all for their input. And, I may have to reformat and install step by step from scratch.

After I get my Network + certification, I will troubleshoot these problems and my be able to help someone who may have similar issues.

Thanks,
that fixed my Desktop icon launch problem, C&P it and it works great now.

Does this depend on where you install the game?
I put mine in a seperate drive partition and I do not see it using above instructions.
I too cannot start in 64 bit just get black screen but 32bit OK.:zip:

My Computer

OK solved it,
Shortcut icons do work but direct to bin64/crysis.exe and not crysis64.exe
and all works.I know it then uses the crysis64.exe to start because my G15 keyboard profile is looking for this exe to activate profile and it sees it.

If Crysis 64-bit won't run make sure you don't have the nvidia network access manager installed. There is a conflict between the two and removing NAM should allow Crysis 64-bit to run.

NAM uninstall can be buggy, so you may need to reinstall (with the nforce drivers) before you can uninstall it. In fact you may need to go through my nightmare:

Reinstall ntune, then uninstall.
Uninstall the forceware drivers
Reinstall the nforce drivers, including NAM
Uninstall NAM
Reinstall the forceware drivers
Reinstall ntune.
