This may sound strange (and I'm sure uncommon and likely to have nobody agree), but for a few years I owned my dream car and it was a Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Big, plenty of room for passengers and/or storage, and OUTSTANDING startup speed and top speed (because it was made for police to catch everything else on the road - including most of the dream cars posted here). And safe too being pretty much the biggest "car" on the road and made of steel and not plastic or aluminum or whatever.

Yes, I love some of the cars here and wouldn't turn them away (I do appreciate the grace and style and such things), but mine cost under $3000 used when I got it - can anyone who posted a dream car here even come close to that?

I see nothing in big fancy cars! A car is to get you from A to B. Sometimes out car is to get us through fields, puddles, hills, show etc, and so one of our cars is a powerful 4x4, but other than that, they are just nothing special, and nor do any of us want/look at special cars!

Oh, and before you ask, we do not own any horses, and need to pull a horse box. We live in about the most rural/nicest part of England, surrounded by upper-class toffs, with all of their many cars, many racing horses, many boats, many houses, each with many rooms, but we are quite squarely middle class! However, we do sometimes need to pull horse boxes etc. My accent sticks out, as it is not even close to some of the posh accents around here! However, amongst all of this countryside, happiness etc. we still have a massive problem with child abuse. Our little county has one of the biggest issues with child abuse in the country. There are a huge number of attempted abductions (fortunately not to me yet) People just walk along the street, and suddenly a car pulls over, asks for directions, and pulls you into the car. Even in the little villages around here. There was yet another incident a few weeks ago, just before half term.

Walking to school. Suddenly a car pulls over by the girl walking to school 50m ahead. Asks for directions. Suddenly the man leans out of the window and starts to drag her inside. Her sister was next to her, and it turned into a small fight, fortunately she got away. We have a big successful abduction, assault, and abandonment case about ONCE A MONTH.

I also remember a time when I was walking back from school with a group of mates. We already walk along the inside of the pavements. Some car pulls up, and the window goes down. Turned out to be some Frenchman. We didn't know. We all backed away. Frenchman starts to get out of the car. We get seriously worried now. Knife crime is quite a big thing round here. We start to run at this point down some back streets. We realise later that all he was was a tourist, but a bunch for teenagers scared of a tourist. Things have got bad.

LOL! Didn't Jeremy Clarkson have a conversation with Rupert Grint on Top Gear about how neither of them never managed to control their hover crafts, and kept on crashing them!

OMG, Richard! That is terrible!!! Your local law enforcement must be very aware of the problem --- are they not able to do anything to control it? Do you have anything like a system that is often utilized in US neighborhoods called "Neighborhood Watch" in which neighbors get together and take it upon themselves to keep an eye out for any kind of crime or other malfeasance in their immediate area --- some groups are, of course, much more (or less active) than others. The system can be pretty effective.

We do have exactly neighbour hood watch for burglers, but the police are never in the right place at the right time to prevent an abduction. We have a massive CEOP branch (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) We have a massive number of councillors, a number of paedophile arrests, and even child divisions (as we can sometimes see issues before they appear) I am one of those children. Sometimes it is just a case of getting to know people, and just watching out for each other - trying to spot if someone has been abused and is not telling anyone. We have a massive number of education schemes, yet still things are bad. I try my best. I work with another girl, and we have seen a huge number of awful things. Maybe eventually things will ease. There will always be girls posting things online that they soon realise they hadn't. It can ruin their reputation, and is impossible to remove, once everyone has a copy. Our mission is to try-integrate them, and to try and stamp out the bigger cases. We literally get police men called out, to find an unconscious, raped, girl in an isolated forest - abducted, "used", abandoned.

I'm so sorry Richard. It sounds awful -- really amazingly so. I wish there was more that could be done.
