Hi,
I have 2 computers, # 1 is Compaq HP PC w/ XP Home all updates SP' ect. Connected via cable to Verizon Fios Router/Modem to internet. No problems
Computer # 2 is HP laptop DV7 series running Vista Home 64 bit, connected to same router/modem wireless. No problems. Found secured site mine, entered wep key and off and running.
Set up home network between 2 computers, here lies the problem !!
I have enabled file sharing on XP shared folder as well as my H drive on a partitioned external HDD that is used for storage.
I have enabled the public folder on the Vista enabled network discovery ect.
Both machines have Norton 2009 current, both are set up to trust each other both have the IP for the other computer. My network name is the same on both, both computers have different names Laptop and PC (original huh?) Both firewalls are turned off, ect.
I can go to the network on the PC xp machine and open and see the vista and open the public docs, add delete change no problem. When I go to network on the Laptop vista machine I see the PC and the shared folder and H drive but when I attempt to access either one I get the pc\\shared is not accessable, need permission from adm of that server, not enough room to open. (I am at work now so I am unable to give exact wording of the message) I can right click on the shared item and get the properties box for either then H drive or the shared folder on xp machine. WTF This is really getting fustrating.
I have gone backminto the XP and turned off file sharing and allowing other users to change, rebooted and then gone back in and turned it all back on again.
What am I missing? (I have the same problem at my inlaws house except it is between a XP PC and a XP Laptop and when I set up network originally both machines could see, share and change each others shared files. This is for another day.)
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
