Suspect one of those apps. you recently installed has caused the problem - uninstalling them or system restore will often fix it, but may not necessarily .

You could try a repair reinstall rather than a clean reinstall

Is this Repair prodecure the same as XP it replaces all the system files?
Does it also wipe out any updates that I have installed?

Hi wizkid,

That's the idea - it's explained in the tutorial. It should replace the system files and leave your data and and programs as they are.

As always, it's a good idea to make sure you have anything really vital backed up - you never know.

If you like experimenting with your pc and trying out different apps. then you need to be prepared to do this kind of thing.

I am going to look into this some more I as belive it could be something else that is casuing this problem, I installed kaspersky IS and now when I did this Auto Play no longer worked Kaspersky made some changes to the Auto Play options. I have removed Kaspersky and the problem is still the same. any one else had this problem before with Kaspersky?

Sometimes it helps to manually disable autoplay and then reactivate it again... Most likely it won't work, but it never hurts to try.

Hi Guys

This has nothing to do with Wise Registry Clenaer what so ever. This was becuase I installed Kaspersky and it disabled the Auto Play function in Vista and I had to download a file to restore this. No reinstall nessercery. Thanks again guys for all your help.
