Wise Registry Cleaner

Hi,

I am thinking of using Wise Registry Cleaner Free, I did a scan with it and it found about 2000 invalid entries, I am not sure if it is safe to remove all of the 2000 entries as this does seem to be quite a lot and I don’t want to muck up my pc. Any one used it before and if so does it do a good job without mucking your pc up?

I wouldn't know about that 1 I use ccleaner but only to remove uninstalled programs that left some registry keys.

I use Wise on a weekly basis, it generally finds a few things, but that many. . .yikes. I have no problem with it personally. Is your computer rather old, or have you installed and uninstalled a large number of applications?

I have been using it without any problems, but 2000 sounds a lot.

You could try scanning again with the default settings and see how different the results are.

You may have checked the top 4 boxes - by default these are unticked.

Thanks for your reply.

Will try what you have said tommrow, I think it was about 2000 I will scan again and check though. There are mixed reviews on this program so I am just checking its ok.

Will let you know how I get on with the scanning.

I did a clean install on this system about amonth ago, but I have been installing quite a lot of things and removing things to.

I couldn't imagine ANYTHING causing 2000+ errors in a months time. . .and, for the record, I scan with the top four boxes checked, and again, generally have just a few errors it finds each time. Is there one specific category that you are getting the majority of the errors in?

I think you probably answered your own question :D If you are not sure about what a registry entry does then I would strongly advise that you do not remove it.

Registry editors can be a great aid to cleaning the registry, but I personally would not let them remove anything I didn't recognise.

One thing to ensure before you start is make sure you have a backup before you start

Hi Guys,

Got the 2000 entries very wrong, I have scanned again and it has found, 550 that can be repaired, please see attached picture this is about the normal amount for a registry cleaner to find, I don’t know where I got 2000 from lol.

I take it this is more normal for this program to find around 550, and this would be safe to remove them? I apologise for any confusion this has caused.

Hi wizkid,

Everyone must make their own decisions about what they do on their own machine.

Some people have had problems using aggressive registry cleaners. However I never had any problem with Wise, which I use regularly. Never had 550 entries show up at once, but that's because I use it a lot - cumulatively , it must be a lot more than that.

If you are going to use it to delete those entries - specially as it's the first time you're using it, create backups.

Suggest you create a system restore pt first. Also set Wise up to make it's own undo file - (a partial backup which can restore the removed entries )



You could do a complete registry backup if you wish, see the Quick start info - after a few days, when you are sure everything is ok, then you may not need to keep the complete backup.

I went ahead with it and created backups as I went. All seems fine still. I left the ones that re not fully safe to remove, not really botherd about them as long as the major ones have gone.

I have notcied that Auto Play is not working when I plug removebale media in, is there any way to fix this?

Hi,


Don't know if you read my last post on the second page, I have notcied that Auto Play is not working when I plug any removeable device in. I thought about doing the registry restore but scnice i did the registrey clean up I have now installed COD5 and a few more programs. Any ideas on how to fix this??

I have had look though that and it is the same as what it says on there I have even gone though and set it to task me each time but nothing comes up asking me what I want to do.

Go into control panel then autoplay then click on restore defaults.

Tried that still no luck whats odd is if I put a game it works but if I put any removable devices in it does not load up??
