windows vista recovery

hey guys
i'm really in need for help
i have a windows vista home premium installed on my laptop A215-S4757 & i didn't get its recovery but i managed to get a recovery for A215-S4757 (same as mine) from my friend
would it work if i used his recovery on my laptop?
& would the drivers b automatically configured?

although all worked well
but i'm facing now a problem when searching a folder containing office 2007 & 2003 format, the only results i'm getting are 2007 format (i'm using search in folders & contents)
any ideas ???????????/

I would make seperate searches and search by filetype - e.g. .doc and .docx

Are you saying that e.g. .doc and .docx files were in the same folder, but now the .doc files have disappeared?

i'm saying that the only results appearing when searching a folder containing .doc & .docx folder are .docx
i usually search the content of folders & files to get the aimed file rapidly
