I just downloaded a driver for the card and its complaining that there is no LAN board on the system.

check the bios to make sure the onboard lan is set to on.

also is it listed in device manager?

if it is try to uninstall the old driver for it and than reboot, install new driver.

Where can I find the bios? Couldn't find anything relative in the setup when you press F10 before the boot.

you need to get into the bios settings before anything boots up. that is the only time you can get into the bios.

what about device manager in windows does it say you have a LAN card or no?

Well, there is a network card (If it is what you mean) but nothing about a LAN card. Should I uninstall it now?
And, what do I need to do to get the lan board on if I get to the bios?

I will not belive this. For some reason, it all works now. My W2k can now connect to the internet and I can see a WIN2000 named computer in my Vista's net. So, looks like it's all fixed now, by doing about nothing.
All I did was to take the card off, to see if it had any visible damage. Nothing suspicious there, so I took my other old computer's card off to see, if it would work. I noticed them to be Identcal, so I put my card back to the W2k and boot it up. Then I ran firefox, just for fun, incase it would work. And Google was loaded. After that I came to this computer and saw a new computer on the net.
Possibly I just mixed the cards, the first one was broken afterall? Or is this just another strange happening to me?
Anyway, sorry for the useless work and the wasted time. :)
And I understand, if you don't belive me.

so the problem was probably that the card was not fully seated in the mobo slot correctly.

P.s. no work is useless or a waste of time as long as everything works out in the end.

Yea, now only need to find the username of the W2k so I can connect to the computer. In the other direction it works as I expected.

I'm shure this ain't the last time you hear about me. Never know, what I will screw up next. :D
Tough that system recovery, or the thing that backs the system a few days has saved me the work of writing on the forums for help. I hate to ask someone else to help in things I've failed all by myself.
