I have a laptop on which i found a slot known as express card slot or 54.
What is this used for?

Express may mean PCI-E (for express) and it usually is for graphics cards although any PCI-E devuce can go there.

Well,thanks. that means i can extend the graphics by this slot called express card slot... and btw i am not talking of my PC we have a laptop too which has that slot. Its model is acer aspire 4920g.

Its a slot you can use to stick a device into instead of USB.
