What do you want to see in IE9?

No offense to IE lovers but..... I don't.

I don't like IE at all, and fully support the people who want to have M$ give the option of Browsers at install.

But thats just me. As to what I think it SHOULD have, M$ should take a leaf out of Google's book. Each tab (this goes for Mozilla too) should be its own process, eliminating crashing all tabs.
Security should also be SO MUCH BETTER. It is the LEAST secure browser and I don't use it for that reason (along with clutter).
I think it should have MUCH less clutter when you first use it, and allow you to add it all in a very SIMPLE way. People are stupid, so keep it easy.

Any other ideas?

If you have ever played "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" you must have seen as how the Nazi bad guys created the prototypes one after the other and finally came up with something called "Super Soldier" (Uber Soldat). The same is with IE and Microsoft. Till the time they had the Good old windows 98 and windows 5 , things were fine. Then came Windows XP , MOzilla , Firefox and there began a browser war. MIcrosoft is a big time name when it comes to getting "inspired" ( read "stealing" ) from other NON MS softwares. take a look at Vista and Widnows 7 , tehy look like cloned brother of a MAC. Tabbed browsing was introduced with IE 7 after Firefox became a huge success with that feature. MOst important thing is that Microsoft always creates stuff that always suffer from incompatibility issues.... look at firefox , it has been built in such a way that it is easy , fast and reliable ... and then turn your attention to IE8 , i believe too much security constraints have made Microsoft worse ( remmeber the evil "UAC" ) but still the browser that becomes an easy catch for most malwares at the end of the day is "Microsoft Internet Explorer" .....

IE8 does run tabs in seperate processes to an extent, and with UAC on, it wouldn't label it "the lest secure browser".

IE8 isn't that cluttered, and you can customise the toolbars to clean it up. After using both Chrome and IE8, I prefer IE8. It's also just as fast as Chrome from my experience.

Google Chrome when it was first released was a spyware product. Just put chrome is spyware into a search engine and you'll see. I dont know if its still like that but that was enough for me to decide never to put it on my pc.

Internet Explorer will always be the least secure browser as long as it is the most popular. I agree with Lordbob that it should haveless clutter so that the minimum amount needed when you first start up is running.

I have IE8 and Firefox 3.1.0 and all I wanted to do was download IE8 and try it to see if I'd consider switching back over to M$... So far, Firefox seems to have 99.4% of my attention when I'm online. Looks like IE8 will sit there until "9" comes out and makes itself available after listening to those of us having suggestions for improvements. Lordbob, you seem to shed the most light on what I don't want to see (and do) in the next phase of M$ dominance of the online world.

I want IE to display the web page, errors and all, not guess at what the page is suposed to look like. And IE shouldn't have any non-compliant 'functions'.

edit:

I have had problems with FF 3 and went back to FF 2.x Firefox. FF shows me the web pages I work on, warts and all. IE guesses what you wanted, and displays that. IE has always been a problem child. I have it, for no other reason than to check what my web sites will look like in IE... however, I haven't used IE to check my sites in several years now.
