I've read just about every thread about vista not booting and am completely at a loss.
I am running Windows VISTA Ultimate x64, do not have the original disk with me as i brought this computer to work on to my vacation spot to do some work. After running a botched program, I got a msg saying the computer would restart automaticly. Having extensive windows knowledge I know this is never a good situation to be in.
I am using a windows x64 boot disk that i found from neosmart as I do not have access to the original disk.

I have tried every option in recovery options.
Just to clarify, after everything posts, without errors, I get a black screen with a white cursor that moves down a few lines and doesn't do anything after that.
Here is a list of things tried:
Startup Repair - Fixed some stuff the frist time, but still not able to boot.
System Restore - Works but when It tries to finish i get an error "system restore did not complete successfully 0x800700b7" ?
Memory test - Successful
Complete restore - unfortunatly no backup copy's - Lesson learned, making one as soon as I get this running.
Command Prompt - I have tried a number of things:
bcdedit - everything looks fine..
bootrec - /fixmbr (Complete's Successfully)
/fixboot (The volume does not contain a recognized file system.)
/scanos (total identified windows installations:0)
/rebuildbcd (total installations:0)
chkdsk - Had errors but they have been fixed.. with /f
Im realy at a loss of what I can do. I don't want to reinstall windows, I don't understand why I can't restore either? Whats the use of having restore points if they don't work??? I am definatly moving to getting a Mac.. I've held on to hope for windows for so long, i don't want to, but situations like this preventing me from working are forcing me to have to
Thank you guys for your help, hopefuly provided enough information.
