I have updated my own personal list with the updates that may be needed to be installed manually first in a new install of windows vista 64/86 bit
i should point out that before you install anything in that you have the automatic update in the control; panel turned off first. Also that windows defender is turned off
The updates that you will need are as follows
(IE9-WindowsVista-x64-enu) first update
Windows6.0-KB2770660-x64
Windows6.0-KB3078601-x64
Windows6.0-KB3087039-x64
Windows6.0-KB3109094-x64
Windows6.0-KB3139852-x64
Windows6.0-KB3145739-x64
Windows6.0-KB3161664-x64
Windows6.0-KB3164033-x64
Windows6.0-KB3168965-x64
Windows6.0-KB3185911-x64
Windows6.0-KB3191203-x64
windows6.0-kb3194371-x64
windows6.0-kb3198234-x64
windows6.0-kb3203859-x64_
windows6.0-kb3216775-x64
Windows6.0-KB947821-v35-x64
It doesn't matter what order they go in but do not skip any as if you do you will more then likely fail in getting the other approximately 214 updates
once you have installed the above updates you will need to reboot your computer. once back to the desktop you will then need to go into the control panel and turn on both automatic updates and windows defender and reboot
once back to the desktop again you then just need to click on check for updates and that is it
if this has helped you in any way then do post back to say so. also feel free to use this post wherever you so wish to do so
thank you
PS it will take around 30/60 minutes for the other updates to show up so good luck
The Microsoft catalog to get hold of these updates can be found here
Microsoft Update Catalog
also take care in downloading the right 64/86 bit update for your computer
Do not concern yourself with these updates as they will automatically install by themselves every time
Update for Windows (KB970158)
Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.256
