Vista restarts

I have hp laptop with vista 32 bit installed.from last week it seems to have developed some problem.It starts and then restarts itself on reaching the desktop screen not even giving me the time to do anything. Does anyone knows how to resolve it.tried repairing vista by using installation but gets stuck at error coe 0x8007020.

Try to boot in Safe Mode. google "how to boot in safe mode" for how to if you don't know already. It's tough to say because Windows is set to reboot if it gets a critical error. If you have flaky memory you can get a critical error, or it can be something else.

If you can get into Safe Mode then MSConfig may let you turn off booting on error to see what is going on. If it's hardware then not much you can do.

tried safe mode already but it restarts don't even get the time to change any settings
