Ive done this already, it says the recovery option, hit enter, goes to the green load bar for a while, then restarts and goes back to the startup repair or start normally.

If none of that works, we will give you the 32. 32 will work with 32 or 64, 64 only works with 64 computer.
64 is the better of the two, but lets not worry about that lets just get it going.

I'm guessing 32-bit and have emailed that one.

Your thanks is all that we need. We are all volunteers, working for self satisfaction and the truly felt thank you.
It will work, unless the problem is actually with the computer.

Look at the DVD RW in Windows Explorer > Computer and right-click it and "Format". IMGBurn will refuse to write on anything that has already something on it.

Also don't forget that the ISO download is zipped - so extract it first.

If you previously used the disk and finalised it afterwards that would possibly make it unwritable although I could be wrong as it's been so long since I burned anything. Got any other media?

Alright, i didnt see this coming. So here i am rummaging through all my cd's dvd's blah blah blah, i find a sony vaio recovery disk set that my gf's brother bought from sony. I pop it in hopeing it'll work. Goes to a load screen. then says this isnt the right model for this disk set. (different model computer, and running windows 7) I think dammit just when i thought there was a light at the end of the tunnel. turned the laptop off, went outside to rake some dead grass up, come in power up the laptop..... everything is running great..... so far of course.... So what is the deal with that?

As of now, its still running, and i cant thank you enough Ex-brit AND Richc46, you guys have been on top of your game the past 24 hours with me, and i really cant thank you enough for trying to help me. If you guys were closer..... ide buy ya a coffee. Thanks again.

Oh and any idea why putting the wrong disk set in there could have made it work again
