vista is the best.

hey adelejukerberg, ok so why do you think windows 8 is the best. i have a copy but have not activated it in case i decide that i don't like it. all i can say is that it is really different. maybe i haven't given it a chance or maybe i am just used to vista and windows 7. poorguy

My Computer

I think you are right. I ran all the prerelease copies of Windows 8 for nearly 1 year and I am really unimpressed. For the time being I will stick to my Windows 7 and the two Vistas I have left (those my wife uses - she does not like change, LOL).

Maybe at a later time after SP1 or SP2 I will have another look.

hey whs, i agree unless you have a tablet for windows then w8 imo is not any advantage. yes it has metro for desktops but for me like you i am going to stick with vista and w7. vista is supported until 2017 and w7 is supported until 2020 so we are good for awhile. poorguy

My Computer

Right, and I think for a tablet I prefer Android anyhow - and if it is only for the gezillion little useful applications. It is really amazing. With my little Nexus 7 I can do a lot more fun things than with my 6 PCs.

The only advantage with the PCs (especially my big desktop) is when I do video work. That would probably be painful on the tablet - although that has a quad core processor. And the right editing programs are not available anyhow.

I can't stand 8. I won't get it unless they remove the metro UI. Actually I was going to skip 7 until M$ had their pre-order sale.

well guys i am going to stay with my desktops because they do what i need. as far as w8 i will keep messing with it and decide if i like it. w7 and vista do all that i need and still like vista the best. the nexus and the curtis klu can definately see a use for them for on the go. hell i don't even use my laptop. too much cool stuff to choose now. just a matter if one can afford it. poorguy

My Computer

We hardly ever move are laptops. But a 7" tablet is really easy to carry in my little shoulderbag. And on the go we use it to check our mail, play videos and movies, check the weather forecast, listen to radio from home, etc. Plus there are so many things to do with it that cannot be done with a PC - e.g. use it as Navigation system.

And I got a little Motorola keyboard with trackpad which makes text input a lot easier than the on-screen keyboard. That connects via Bluetooth - so no wires.

And of course I have a lot of pictures and music stored on it plus I carry a couple of 16GB USB sticks that I can play via the OTG cable. Lots of possiblities.

hey townsbg, i wish i had a newer version of office but i don't and don't want to pay what it cost. i have thought about trying the office that java has for free but i have heard that it has some issues with w7. thats why i like vista the software that i have now seems to work fine on it. poorguy

I got professional for free for attending a M$ sponsored conference and I got ultimate for less than $70 as a deal that they have for students. Both are full legal licenses. I do agree with you as to cost.

Today I used the Nexus 7 as a navigation device. Works a lot better than a Garmin or Tom Tom because I can work with a much bigger screen and for the setup I don't have to be in the car. The maps are really superb.
