Vista installation missed a step

Unless Vista detects no other network type or connection available and assigns one automatically, it usually pops-up either during the installation of Vista, when Vista is setting up the network after the drivers are installed, or when are manually setting up the network. Every system setup is different, so it's not exact when it may pop-up, but these are the usual times when it may.

The only thing you can do is go back and manually change your network location type to what you wanted it to be instead of Public.

weird, after i installed the network driver it didnt pop up. and when you mean setting up the network do you mean like the physical hardware?(router, modem)

or something within vista?

I suppose that it could be just after the setting up of hardware, but more likely, far more likely, is when you have chosen your network, and entered your password for the first time. However, it won't always give you this option, so do not worry if you never get this option, it indicates no problem :)

I thought that this was wireless. If this was wireless, then you would have to choose your network. Since it is wired, then you do not have to make a choice, yet this would occur at the time that you would have had to make the choice, had there been two networks available, ie right after cable plug in.

so your are saying that after i plugged in my ethernet cable to my computer, that the network selection screen shouldve popped up? cause that never happened.

No, it should not have popped up. Basically, everything went as planned. Everything has worked fine. Please just set in manually to Private, and then everything will be OK. :)

then why did you say that i would have to make a choice after ive plugged in the ethernet cable??

Because I thought that you were on wireless, which would require that choice. I am very sorry, that was my mistake.
