vista h/p x64 hangs on welcome screen

Hi all

My problem is that my computer hangs, once the password has been typed in.
Basically on the welcome screen.

Then it goes to a black screen, and hangs for a few minutes also.

Could anybody explain to me, where the first place to investigate would be.

We can probably get you up and running, but lets do this first
Install Ubuntu, if you can. Use it to save your stuff. We will then do a factory reinstall and all unsaved stuff will be lost
