Hi All
I have been given a mates Compaq Presario C700 to try and fix
I run start up chack mode and everything Passed (CPU test, Memory test and Primary Hard Drive Self Test)

I get this message on start up:

File: \windows\system32\winload.exe
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.

He never created any back up disks when he first purchased the Laptop

How do I go about fixing this problem.

I didnt know if to load up my Vista Installation Disk onto his computer to try and fix the problem.

Any help is very welcome
Thanks for your time reading

Stef,

You can reload you instellation disc's but it will wipe out all data from the memory, look up "vista recovery disks", go to neo down loads, burn a recovery disc, and load that in, it should restore vista, and save his data. If that doesn't work, reload with your disks. Hope it works, bye for now. Duncan.

I have tried this option but when i try to do the "start-up repair"
it says it cannot repair this computer automatically
then when i look at the problem code...it passes the first few tests, then at the ROOT test it says no OS files on disk.

My Installation disk is for a Dell PC...will this make any difference or not??

Apart from that i didnt know if to upload Ubuntu so he has a operating system on it??

Thanks Stef
