"Verífying DMI pool data" error

If you are not worried about losing data can you do a fresh install? Your restore might not work if the virus is still in your system.

Hmm, im afraid that I got some pictures and such on my computer.
But I uploaded them to my blog on the internet, so Ill see..
And the system restore does say, that it is successfully restored:

'System Restore completed successfully. The system has been
restored to 10/10/2008 2:42:56 PM. Your documents have not been
affected. The computer will now be restarted.'

But when I click restart, it comes with the message.

How would I do a fresh install, when my computer didnt follow with a windows vista cd?

No Vista CD? No restore disk? No onboard restore partition? You will probably have to buy a copy. But I personally think a clean intall is the only safe thing to do. And make sure you get a good antivirus or at the least, AVG free.

On the desktop computer with that verifying, I got avg free, but I dont know why it did this.

By the way, windows vista home basic came installed with the computer, so no I have no vista cd.

And you cant install by the startup repair thing you burned?

Hi Kadir,

Okay, but I couldnt get it to burn the .iso file with imgburn.
But ill try again. And can I try on the same cd that I copied to, and just delete the copied, and burn the .iso on that one again? or should I get a whole new cd?
If you are using a Re-Writeable CD you can of course re-use this to burn the CD, I would however advise that you burn to a regular writeable CD as this may be useful in the future

By the way, that system info tool, how would I run it, on my computer, which I can't get past boot up ? Would I just then run off cd-rom at start up?
Sorry I didn't make myself clear the tool is for use after getting your system back running, again for future assistance.

What is the Make and Model of your computer?, If I know this I may be able to find out what restore options you have available to you

Make and model of my computer?
Hmm, what do you mean by that?

Like I got an Acer Aspire m1610 which is produced by Acer?

By the way, maybe you should read the posts after that post.
Because I burned the .iso file, and I got it working, but I runned the startup repair, it found no errors. I restored the system to some earlier points, even the earliest listed, and that didn't work either.

By the way, that day it did that, like an hour before it happend, I deleted some empty folders in my user AppData, but that wouldnt effect the system, because its my account?

I really dont know.

Hi Kadir,
The DMI Pool Data is information about hardware that is transferred from the bios to windows during the boot process.
The options you have left at this point is somehow to reset your BIOS as an incorrect BIOS setting could be the cause of the problem or it may be a corrupt operating system.

I think Dell still use the DEL key to access BIOS but you will have to check.

Once in the BIOS you need to look for a Key press combination or menu item to reset BIOS to default setting It's often F7 but could be anything so have a look at all options.

If you still have problems you may need to restore your PC to the way it was when it left Dell's factory Details on how to do this is on the Following links. However if it is a BIOS corruption problem and you cannot reset it, reinstalling the operating system will not solve the problem.

This option will of course mean any user data or programs added since initial setup will be lost

hi Kadir,

You may want to see if the shop can sort something out for you before you do the recovery. they may manage to save your personnel files which would be something at least

Sorry we could not fix things for you but hopefully you will get things working soon :)

Is the machine still under warranty?

The message you're getting is one that everyone gets when there's a change to the hardware or when a bios setting has been changed... this isn't a Vista thing, it's a bios thing... it would have happened no matter what OS you were running if a piece of hardware has gone bad or a bios setting was changed. That you're hung tells me that some part had up and died on you... or, that your bios has been corrupted.

Before I took it to a shop I'd try and flash a new bios. The virus you caught sounds pretty bad... who knows if it's affected your boot sector or bios? It's possible that it got both? If that's the case, start fresh with a new flash and a reinstall of the OS.

I would not pay some shop to deal with the problem if the problem could be resolved for free by Acer? Of course, it may be more trouble than it's worth to get Acer to deal with it, which is unfortunate, but, it's your call.

How would i flash a new bios?
How would I reinstall the OS, if the OS came ínstalled with the desktop computer?

Okay, my father is going to the shop we bought it from tomorrow, and see if they can fix it. They fix it for free, or they have too, because I still got 6 months guarantee(spell?) on it.

Okay guys, I got some information about the computer..
I typed some information into my system specs.
But heres a picture, of the information I found.

f2osjb.png

Op til means Up to
Dedikeret means Dedicated (I think)
Med means with
Kortlæser means Drivereader, or Media?

Ask if you got more to ask.

Hello Kadir.

I hope that price is the krone and not the dollar ...

What did the computer shop have to say, will they honor the warranty?

Hello Kadir.

I know you said you didn't want to do a "Factory Recovery" because you had data you didn't want to lose. I believe Acer has a backup option in their recovery center that is accessible before you proceed with the recovery. If you want to have a go at it the instructions are listed below. You should have an option to abort if you choose to not continue after you begin. Just have backup media available before you start.

If your first option is system restore select no, which should take you to system recovery.
You want to try system recovery not system restore, unless you have good restore points!
With the machine off press the power button, as soon as you do that start tapping the F11 key.
It may take several attempts to do this, if the first attempt fails, try again.

That should take you to the recovery center. When there just follow the prompts.

I hope this will work for you; keep us informed!
PS. I thought that kroner had an "r" in it.
