I have a HP Pavilion dv6 1140ea. It is able to upgrade to Windows 7. I downloaded Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Version 1.0 and all softwares were compatbile. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor 2.0 was released, I got it. I did a scan if anything was compatible. In 4 programs it said 'Before Upgrading to Windows 7, we reccomend unistalling this program. It can safely reinstalled after the upgrade'. And I know that they will work on Windows 7. But other people don't bother reinstalling, they just upgrade simply, I don't want to reinstall the programs again as they are compatible with Windows 7. Even HP said that the software are compatible and you can upgrade just like that. I got two softwares that are ATI Catalyst Install Manager and Catalyst Control Centre, now I don't know were to download them off. Please could you help me, I don't want to reinstall the programs, do I have to reinstall it, even though it is recommened ?

Hello aikma,
You can download your ATI drivers here.

Graphics Drivers & Software

If it is recommended that you un-install any software, then it is always better to follow the recommendation.
Most times you will get away without un-installing, but if things go wrong, they can be awkward to fix.
Hope this helps, good luck and let us know how it goes.

ATI catalyst will run in win 7, but it may still need a newer version. I have done hundreds of installs on win 7 and it shouldnt be a problem. If you are still concerned why dont you visit our sister site sevenforums.com. There are lots of people who will help you and many things to learn. I help over there as well

Hope this eases your mind

I could not find it

I'm ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4530, I can't find it.

And I don't know were to get the Catalyst Control Centre from.

+ Do I have to unistall the program before upgrading ? and reinstall again when I finish upgrading. It was only recommened but, I will probably just leave it

IMO you don't need the Catalyst Control Center for your video drivers. And, I've noted problems with it's use in Windows Vista - so I'd have to wonder about it in Win7.

If a reliable source recommends uninstalling it - why wouldn't you uninstall it? If the same reliable source recommends uninstalling it - and you don't - what are you going to have to say if it fails on you? If you respond to the reliable source, what are they going to say? They'll say "I told you so".

Removing the software can't hurt - and the possibility of it doing something bad does exist - so what do you want to do for your system?
