Updated Windows Vista Buisness SP2 (x64) ISO?

Alright so, I have this laptop I managed to fix. I was given it because the person who owned it already replaced it. It is a DELL Latitude E6330. It came with Windows 7 Pro, and microsoft says OEM licenses have downgrade rights. I know it can run Vista since I found out DELL provides drivers for down to XP when I was trying to reset the laptop, so I know I can find Vista x64 drivers. Any place to get a EOL Patched ISO?

Dare I ask why you want to go back to Vista? I can't speak to the license issue. I use Vista on this system but I also have two others with Win 7. I prefer Vista but find Win 7 to have some advantages, especially when selecting browsers and using HTML5. There's also the sha256 advantage.

I personally prefer vista. I may have to go to 7 Pro since the intel display driver won't install despite listing NT6.0amd64 IN THE INF

NT6.0 is vista, NT6.1 is 7,maybe thats why the driver does not work, also, you can just install windows vista buisness sp2 and then update it with the windows update fix from i430vx (i suggest using Home Premium or Ultimate since Buisness contains things that you are not going to use, mainly buisness things, for offices or that, while home premium has more home user features, and ultimate is a combination of both, Home premium and buisness)
also, you have a x64 machine, so you can install the extended kernel to have up to date web browsers working.

NT6.0 is vista, NT6.1 is 7,maybe thats why the driver does not work, also, you can just install windows vista buisness sp2 and then update it with the windows update fix from i430vx (i suggest using Home Premium or Ultimate since Buisness contains things that you are not going to use, mainly buisness things, for offices or that, while home premium has more home user features, and ultimate is a combination of both, Home premium and buisness)

I got WiFi and graphics working (and also the touchpad), but I can't get bulk-installing CAB files to work at all. I tried modding the built-in script to work for my fs, but I only get return code 0x20

I got drivers to work fine. I tracked down some Ivy Bridge drivers and a wifi driver. I accidentally downloaded a Vista Ultimate iso though so I need to reinstall. The CAB files for updates didn't install though

CAB files are like .RAR or .ZIP, you need to extract them

I did. I ran the bulk install command and kept getting 0x20 like I said.

Can you show me what are you doing and the error itself?

I used the command from the update repo with modified paths to match the paths of where everything was and got "return error 0x20" in the logs. I can't show you because I need to reinstall vista to get the correct eddition for the OEM downgrade rights (I could go to XP if I wanted)

Also, any place where I could get an ISO though? I can use the "Microsoft Downgrade Rights" to activate Windows Vista/XP because of my 7 Pro OEM key.

Are you trying to install .CAB files to patch your Vista OS back to end of support (11-Apr-2017) or are these .CAB files for updating your hardware drivers?

If you are trying to patch your Vista OS the instructions in greenhillmaniac's 08-Aug-2020 Windows Vista Update Repository (until April 2017+) in the MSFN Vista board might be helpful. There is a link in that post to greenhillmaniac's repository on MEGA.nz that includes all 32-bit and 64-bit Vista security updates and instructions on how to extract and bulk install updates with a .CAB extension using pkgmgr commands. If you follow those instructions and still see an error then other tips are posted in that thread (e.g., like Vista'erest's 16-Jan-2021 suggestion <here>) but you can also post in that thread and ask for assistance.

Also note the the Dism++ utility mentioned in greenhillmaniac's thread can still be used to automatically patch a Vista SP2 installation up to end-of-support. If you aren't familiar with Dism++ I posted more information about this utility (and information on obtaining a slipstreamed Vista SP2 ISO) on 18-Feb-2022 in post # 9 of skeezix's Win Vista Home Premium-X86 (SP1) Reinstallation Question.

You didn't mention the make and model of the hardware devices you still need driver updates for but if you can't find a Vista-compatible driver on the manufacturer's support site then my 14-Dec-2020 post in PeterReinhold's Toshiba L355d-S7825 WiFI Driver in the MS Answers forum might have some useful information. In that case PeterReinhold was looking for the latest available Vista-compatible driver for their Atheros AR5007 Wireless LAN driver, and the Softpedia download page for the .CAB file for their Atheros driver included instructions for manually installing .CAB files for hardware drivers.

Alright so, I am trying to upgrade the OS itself to EOL. The hardware of this machine is on the "My Computer" section, and I was able to find Ivy Bridge drivers (a backport of the windows 7 ones) and Intel Centrino drivers!

It's up to the people who created these ISOs to decide if they want to privately share a download link with you. All I can tell you is that the links that SIW2 gave me in 2020 to their "full" SP2 ISOs (i.e., with SP1 + SP2 + all ~ 220 security updates released between SP2 and end of support on 11-Apr-2017) are no longer valid, and when I checked with SIW2 a few months ago they told me that they are no longer hosting those ISO files on their MEGA.nz repository.

If you wish you can contact SIW2 directly via a private message [click the "Conversations" (envelope) icon in the top-right corner of the forum and choose "Start a New Conversation" as shown below or go to SIW2's profile page <here> and click the "Start Conversation" button] and ask them if they have moved their ISOs to a new repository. As I suggested in post # 9 of skeezix's Win Vista Home Premium-X86 (SP1) Reinstallation Question, you can also send a private message to Ex_Brit from their profile page <here> and ask if they are still offering their "standard" slipstreamed Vista SP2 ISO (with SP1 + SP2) for download, but note that Ex_Brit's ISOs do not include the ~220 individual security updates required to patch to end of support on 11-Apr-2017. Just make sure you include the edition of Vista you want to install (e.g., 64-bit Vista SP2 Business) in your private message(s).



If you mean you need the link to greenhillmaniac's MEGA.nz repository of individual .CAB files, that link is posted publicly at the bottom of their first (08-Aug-2020) post in Windows Vista Update Repository (Until April 2017+), although you might have to expand the Quote at the bottom of that post to see the URL. However, if you ever need to install the ~ 220 security updates released between SP2 and end of support I think it it would be much simpler to use the Dism++ utility I mentioned in post # 13 than to extract and bulk install all those .CAB files .

If you manage to find an ISO for 64-bit Vista Business that has no Service Packs, you can manually install SP1 and SP2 as instructed in my post # 104 of Why SP1 May Not Be Available For You And How To Get It and then patch to end of support with Dism++.

I also would like to know what "are no longer valid" in your first paragraph means. I have the ISO for Home Premium x64 he gave me and burned it to disc. I assume it would work.

As stated, the download links (URLs) that SIW2 sent me in a private message on 04-Aug-2020 for their 32-bit and 64-bit slipstreamed ISOs are no longer valid - those MEGA.nz URLs now display the error message shown below, which suggests the ISO files have been removed from SIW2's MEGA repository or moved to a new location. If you already downloaded SIW2's 64-bit ISO for your own use then I'm sure it can still be used to successfully reinstall Vista SP2.

Makes sense. The only issue I have now is that Windows refuses to activate. Microsoft wouldn't give me the download key because Vista is EOL (never said I couldn't get the key for EOL operating systems and I think XP would work, but XP is super vulnerable)

Do you know how I can activate now? MS refused to give me a downgrade key "because Vista is EOL" when it was never stated I couldn't get a key after EOL.

I'm giving up doing this until I have a bigger hard-drive to dualboot and extract the activated liscence file from an activated Windows 7 install
