Sounds like fun, seven hours in the car in the snow... I don't know about that one. :sarc: lol.

I'd have to have an iPod with some movies on it or I'd likely be asleep the whole time.

Kitten?!?!

Haha yes Chase, a kitten. :) I named her Zaena, after my Death Knight. ;)

Show me. :p

There she is!

I love cats - always have and have had many (I think as many as 14 at one point in our early 20's when we were too foolish to realize the work and expense and time involved even though cats and not dogs - and we let them be outdoor cats which was a big mistake and one I will never again make). Among them were two that look very similar to Zaena (but that was decades ago and we still miss them - as we have no children, they ARE to us what children (not their own pets) are to other people, though people with children will argue that can't possibly be true - but they'd be wrong).

We now have two (Kosh and Thor - I wonder how many people can guess the origin of both of those names - one I expect as he is truly legendary, but the other may be a bit harder unless my username provides too much of a clue). They're 13 and 15. They're even in our wills going to friends we know are also cat people and will care for them almost as much as we do (with more than enough to cover just about any expenses for the rest of their lives - $15,000 each (with discretion by the executor if more is warranted for major verterinary expenses)).

Here's Kosh:

and while I don't have a picture of Thor handy (none are digital), I do have one of his namesake (which should clinch it for anyone who didn't get the origin before):

^^ Welcome! :party::party:

Today I was out in the snow again. We are predicted around 20CM of snow overnight .
I am also thinking about upgrading my netbook from Vista Basic to Seven Pro. I was thinking of using my Vista Business disc to upgrade to that, then the Seven disc to finally upgrade.
Do you think it'll work? It will take along time if it could work....

EDIT:
Attached a screenie from our DVR camera of the snow :)
It's been snowing non-stop all day today...

I made the unfortunate goof move of getting my bare feet caught up in the down comforter that had partially slid off the bed. The material lashed itself around my right foot in a peculiar way, while my left foot provided the firm anchor to send me careening down. All of my body weight mysterious wound up focused on the big toe of my right foot. SNAP, CRACK!

Yeah, I heard a loud snap of a sound come from that foot. I knew immediately that this wasn't good. Of all the times I've ever tripped in my life, I'd never experienced anything like this before. Had my foot been sheathed in a slipper or shoe, I very likely wouldn't have suffered any trauma.

But no... life has so many lessons to teach, when you least expect it.

THANKFULLY, no other more serious injuries occurred. I knew of someone who once tripped and smacked their head on a hard bureau, cracking their skull. Unfortunately nobody else was home. Eventually a room-mate came in many hours later, finding him unconscious on the floor in a pool of blood. He was lucky to survive this, but unfortunately suffered lasting effects from the experience. SO... I know I got off easy in comparison.

The toe does not appear to be broken, but the nail has had it. It is raised up on the nail bed side and still seeping blood 6 hours later. It has kept bleeding, because I periodically move it, checking for signs of the pain and injury associated with a broken toe. Luckily the toe has not become swollen or shown signs of it being broken. I lost my health insurance because I've been laid off for almost two years, so I'm not exactly eager to visit a health clinic if I can avoid it...

Not sure how I'm going to sleep on this thing. I hate sleeping on my back. But I guess I have little choice. :(

Anybody here ever experience a similar kind of injury?

Deep snow. School closed. Really annoyed. They always set more closure work than normal work, as then on the day they re-open, they get most people back "You will have far less work to do coming to school, so turn up".

That is a hateful tactic.

In my days, snow days were great because it meant NO extra work at all - because we weren't there for them to assign it. No computers to access with the normal or extra closure work documented. It does seem a bit hateful, but I can sort of understand the rationale. Tell me, if you have a snow day, does that mean they tack on an extra day at the end of the school year to compensate for the loss of that day? While we had a few "grace" days, if it became too many they sometimes extended the term a few days to make up for it (and I found that hateful myself).

I wouldn't mind that too much, but this is slightly nasty. Most people come back anyway, and it just punishes those who do nothing wrong, in the hope of preventing a few wrongdoers doing wrong. If it does go on for too long, then they probably would add to the end, but there is always some grace, as you found, especially when they are sending work home.

Anyway, they very rarely close. It is in the middle of a town, and a massive 3/4 walk to school, so they just don't get fussed about non-turning up people. However, it then means that it is very difficult to catch up. The only reason they closed today was because all of the trains were broken, and they had "issues" when they forced working parents to drive kids in. Just had a look at the website. Most of the trains are at a very minimum an hour late etc. etc.
