Today I finally made Guru! I've been looking forward to this since day one (and sweated it out yesterday being 11 points away). A very grateful and sincere thanks to everyone who contributed (even the newbies who gave me their one point of rep for answering their question) and to everyone here who helped me (a relative newbie having started 8/31 with only 140 some odd posts so far) along the way with support and encouragement and posts that assisted me and suggestions when I got stuck, and posts in other threads that provided leads or good suggestions or hints on places to look (and educational value even if not directly helpful for the issue i was seeking to research) and perhaps most of all for being a great group of people to work with - you all made this much easier and more enjoyable. It used to be that my primary reasons for doing this were to help people and to learn, but you've added the simple pleasure of associating with those of you I've had the pleasure to meet so far and looking forward to meeting many more of you as well.

This Forum is SO much better than where I came from that I just don't have the words (and it is run better and has better forum features enabled and those on staff actually participate actively and that is a major difference and a key factor in why this Forum is so superior - that and the members who are just simply more friendly and helpful and certainly every bit as good and generally speaking even better) - if only there were more activity (more like what I heard was the case a year ago or what still occurs at that forum I came from). It's going to take quite a while to get 1500 posts for the next badge (Gold) but I plan on sticking around so I suppose it's only a matter of time.

So this was an exceptional day and one I will remember and treasure for a long time. It's going to be tough to beat it (though that too would be nice because it would mean something extraordinary and unexpected and extremely good happened).

Thanks Chase and Smurfyy. I haven't been able to concentrate enough to post anything intelligent (meaning reply to questions/problems in the forums) since it happened.

While Gold is a great badge and I look forward to it (since it is in all likelihood the last one I'll get as I'm not a Developer and don't really expect to ever get a staff position of any sort almost no matter how many posts or rep points I accumulate or how long I stay here (or it remains)), it is based entirely on contribution levels (posting volume) than on achievement from posting good replies, answering questions, and solving problems. To me, it represents something quite different - something to be proud of without question, but for a different reason.

We have a 4 camera DVR covering most of the house, so watched it back, backed it up onto a memory stick and it'll be going to the police later today.
It was him, thing is, we havn't actually done anything for him to do it. :huh:

It depends on how much you contribute and What you do for the Forum, Becoming a Staff member is really Hard and you need to show your Worth,

Contributing is the Best way to go

I found out Studio Ghibli is making a video game for the PS3 & DS. I'm very excited for it.
Tomorrow and Wednesday are On-Demand Testing days for me. Pretty much, ORQ-type questions. I guess we have 2 each day to do. 2 hours each day to do it. Not looking forward to it at all, but it's required by the state to graduate, so bleh.
