Bored at work all day....home now, just waiting for it to start raining

It's pouring over here... But I will be in class all day anyway.

It's not very nice here at the moment, cold grey and we've had rain as well.

Hubby's car battery died, ordered another one a friend picked it up for us and it's too big to fit so it's got to be exchanged tomorrow, this is fun as he's having problems with his joints at the moment so had to rely on someone else to fetch it as there's no way he could carry it on the bus, so now we've got to try and sort something out for tomorrow getting this one back and collecting the replacement, I'm so glad I don't have anything to do with cars.

Today I'm giving up on SRWare Iron and going with Google Chrome Beta. Just too many utilities can't find the Iron settings. LastPass not working was the last straw. Chrome beta hello, Iron in the rust pile!

If you google Chrome Beta it pops right up.
It's a version 5. So far it feels just like Iron except 3rd party programs can find the profile stuff. You should be able to import settings from your current browser. For some reason on Vista 64 everything went right on but in W7 I had to drag bookmarks onto the toolbar folder. Took 15 seconds. But the big thing is LastPass will work with it!

In Firefox I could use SyncPlaces to sync my bookmarks and passwords to my own ftp site. With this I have to use a combination of XMarks and LastPass. But for the speed it's worth it.

The other thing I notice is page loading doesn't seem to have the "ripple" effect that Iron has. The page just snaps up all at once. Iron you could see blank white, then it filled from the top down.. which would be ok if it was smooth. But it kind of filled at a weird angle. A bit distracting.

edit: well I guess Chrome does ripple a bit too when reloading a long page. But not as bad as Iron.

But, I used Firefox for a long time and if the HD is busy, you can wait a minute for that thing to get off the disk!! Chrome comes up fast even if the HD is doing some heavy lifting.

It's getting it's ass up off the HD that I can't stand to wait on. Do a video mux and while that's going on, launch Firefox. You can easily wait a minute for the window to show up.

It's windy, it's nasty, but for the first time in what seems to be weeks, it's actually going to be clear and mostly sunny for a weekend.

So, tonight i'm slacking again....busted my a** today, so I needed a break.
