The hobby Thread

You've got some serious talent. Especially if all you're using is a cell phone camera! I daresay you could even do some freelance stuff for people.

That wheat field one is great too! If it was focused right on the closest stalk, it would be perfect.

Just a cellphone camera? What cellphone are you using; it's great quality.
iPhone 4 :-)

And slammer, I got a picture like that but it wasn't as good with the exposure and background focus

Ah, that would explain it. My sister owns one and the quality is fantastic.

Hey guys & gals,
Like most people at the Vista Forum, one of my hobbies has got to be computers, right?
Reading another great hobby, mainly non-fiction, real paper ones!! But just got a kindle! Ouch!

I also enjoy photography.
On seeing the fantastic photographs from MrNeeds, I need to dust my camera down and try and find some suitable subjects!

Those pics of yours Dave are amazing! My favourite is the Blackpool Pier one (a bit biased there!)
But all are great. You have a good eye for a great picture.
I look forward to seeing more!

I promised Tom982 that I would put a couple of my efforts in the thread, so here goes if I can remember how it's done!LoL!

You are correct JimJoe, don't know why I said Corn, however, there is a corn field on the way to Dunham Massey so I might take a trip down there before it's harvested.

Thank's Tom.
That one turned out OK, many others turn out not so good!

I was lucky to live in the 'land of the rising sun', and work for a number of years in Matsue the City of the 'setting sun'.:)
Mutsue City is in Shimane Prefecture, Western Japan.

It is famous throughout Japan for it's sunsets over Shinji Lake.
A popular destination for honeymoons!;)
It is magical sitting be the lake waiting for the sunset. Often you think the sunset will be perfect, only for cloud to appear at the last moment!
That's photography I suppose?

Wow! Tom that is a great photograph!!! Fantastic! Another member with good photo skills.

You should take more! Don't wait another 17 years though!;)

Most of my photographs are landscapes, plants, nature stuff, very few people ones except for family.
May have one or two of questionable quality.

Yes a good place for sunsets. You would love the City too, country folk.

Haha I'm just gonna say that both Tom's and Dave's pic are good, I love the wavy reflection in Tom's. Looks like they're walking across a lake or something. On a slightly different note, I'm better at photoshop than actual photography, and recently discovered the weekly "Photplasty" contests over at Cracked.com, where you win 50 bucks if your submission is picked as the best. And unlike some sites with seemingly millions of entries that you could never hope to beat, you actually have a pretty good chance of winning, or at least getting featured as one of the best. If you have some half-decent skills and some time to spare. Also, they don't limit your number of entries, so you can make as many different submissions as you want! I just wanted to point this out to people who like Photoshopping stuff (a lot of people seem to like it on this site), because the contests are really fun.

Here's a direct link to where the contests are posted (the first three are active as of this post, they seem to have upped it to three contests running simultaneously every week, instead of just one): Potoplasty Topic Pages
It's kinda hard to sort through that page, so here's the links to the actual contest pages: Scandalous Paparazzi Photos of Historical Figures, If Every iPhone or Browser Game got a Movie, The Downside of Being the Parent of a Superhero

I'll leave you all to you photography and stick to making you pics look funny :) My username over there is Slammer13, so if you see any entries under that name, you know they're mine!

It looks like an amazing place! I'll have to visit some day :) Here's just about the only vaguely good photo I've taken in 17 years :p

Haha, thanks Keith. Well I'll try, but no promises!

I'll have to go one day, but I doubt I'll be able to afford to go away to Japan for a few more years :( I hear it's quite an expensive country, but it looks well worth the money from that phot
