System Restore GONE

Hi,

Not sure why but when I try to open system restore I get this message:

"System Protection Settings has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I cannot make or restore my computer.

If I go into system protection I get this error:

C:\Windows\System32\SYSDM.CPL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

HELP!

Windows is corrupted. if you cannot restore, then you will have to re-install.

SYSDM.CPL is used to load System Properties in Windows.

what happened? you posted a file and then you removed the thread?

what happens when you type sysdm.cpl in the start search? can you click the program and open the system properties, or does it give error and fail?

There are some similiar issues to yours:
Vista Backups Stopped Working

This is a system file checker:
start>search> type cmd>right click, "run as administrator" copy/paste the command and hit enter:

sfc /scannow

If it opens without issue then it is fine, and you should try shutting off/disabling System Restore/Shadow Copy, and the re-enabling it again. I would still run the sfc scan first to check for and fix Windows Integrity issues- this may solve the issue for you.

I get an Error when I click on the file and there is NO option to repair when I boot from Vista cd --- only install.

Should I click next ti install???? Will there be a repair option later??

Repair in Vista is not like repair in XP.

It will only allow you to use the commands/restore options, etc in a RE (recovery enviroment).

As I said before you have corrupted Windows.Run the system file check, or try replacing the file I uploaded, If it still doesnt work, and If you cant restore to undo the damage you will have to re-install the O/S.

I do not have that screen.

It asks for language, time and install.

Vista Home Premium 32bit original disk.
