System Health Report

How to Generate a System Health Report in Vista and Windows 7​

   Information

The System Health Report helps track down any errors that may occur within your software or hardware and generates a report that tells you exactly what the problems are. When the report is generated, you will see a list of: the status of any critical components on the computer, whether or not the problem has been detected, and any possible solutions you can try. This can be a very useful tool for troubleshooting problems and for a great source of information on your system.

   Note

The System Health Report seems to not always properly detect, recognise, or report on anti-spy, anti-virus, anti-malware software that is installed on your system.

   Warning

You will need to do this from within an administrator account or provide the administrator password in the UAC prompt for it to work.

   Tip

If you get this error message below, then check the Performance Logs & Alerts Service to make sure it is set to Start and Manual.

NOTE: Each drop down arrow on the right hand side will open the line for more information.

Here's How:

1. Open the Control Panel. (Classic View or Icons View)
NOTE: You can also open an elevated command prompt, then type perfmon /report in the command promptand press enter to run a System Health Report.

2. Click on the Click to Play button in the video below.

Would anyone please help me? I don't see a 'click to play' button in my control panel (classic view). I'm using vista business 32-bit. I'm very new to this vista thingy as I just got my laptop (HP 6730s). Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You won't have that the click to play is only on this site that will show you what to do on your computer.

As Mansrm81 posted, the Click to Play button is just a part of the flash video in only this tutorial to click on to play the video with.

When I generate a system health report I keep getting an Error: Unable to start Data Collector Set because there are to many folders.

Does it give you any error messages?

Since it is started and set to manual, try restarting the computer to see if will run afterwards without the error. If not, then you may need to do a System Restore using a restore point dated back to when you knew or think it worked to hopefully fix it.

System Health Report - Cardbus Controller Disabled; What does it do? Enable in Device Manager??

I generated a System Health Report [SHR] today, and this is the only reported error;



I haven't a clue what the function of the Cardbus Controller is, and intend to enable it again via Device Manager, here;



I can't figure why the Cardbus Controller is disabled, and am wondering if this is symptomatic of other problems. No others show in the SHR. Is it something I have done in setting options for FireFox3 Browser??

On a more general note, these are the details of SHR General Performance. Do these details look 'normal'? Again, I haven't a clue what the collected data figures represent or mean;

From your specs you indicate that you have a notebook. The disabled device refers to the expansion card slot - for more information, see: PC Card - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia You should be able to re-enable this via Device Manager.

Your Resource Overview looks OK.

Thanks Dwarf for your quick reply.

Cardbus Controller re-enabled, and did a re-start without noticable differences. I also had a read of the article you refer to, but it's way over my head I'm afraid.

To be frank, I haven't noticed any differences in the Notebook performance recently, but maybe I've been doing things that haven't called for using the resources of the Cardbus Controller. I did note that it is involved in some way with Memory performance.

all fine except for it saying that there is no anti virus and when i went to look in security centre being all green and finding norton 360 weired
