suggestion?

well i using PG902 homeplug now. but it seems that it is getting lousier.
my laptop is like more than 150 feet away from my modem. last time use PG902, signal bar can go up to 3. now, most of the time is only 1 bar.

also, i have 2 PG902 actually. 1 connected to modem, 1 connected to my IPTV set-top box.

i was wondering, should i change my 2 PG902 homeplug to another homeplug, or should i just use a repeater to strengthen the wireless signal?

yet again, if i use repeater, how to configure/install? my IPTV set-top box needs a device to receive wireless connection, and neither is my modem a wireless modem...

Personally I would use a repeater/ extender. Unfortunately the information above is bearly enough to establish exactly what you should do.

Please include a post of all manufacturers & models of your equipment currently in use & we should then be able to assist you further. OK?

My modem (maybe you guys called it router instead ?) -- 2Wire 2701HGV-E

My Homeplug -- Comtrend PowerGrid 902 (PG902)

I have two of this PG902. One will be connected to my IPTV set-top box, while the other is connected to my 2Wire 2701HGV-E.

In fact, the signal is getting weaker.
Last time my laptop was much further away and I could receive 2-3 bars of signal (which is enough for me), but because shortly after my laptop could no longer connect to my wireless, I brought my laptop closer (the closest I can go) to my modem (which is still over 150 feet away) and the signal improved, but later slowly it went down yet again until today, everyday is majority of the time is 1 bar of signal

How?

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Mine is wireless and it works the very best in direct line to the modem. If I go around the house my signal gets week, so I keep it in direct line of sight. Is it possible to keep them closer or do you have to be far away for some reason.

I use a wireless extender: -

Google

Connect this to your router, configure & you'll be ok wirelessly. There are other makes & models but this one is cheap & it works!

So use the power plugs to get to the router & as for the Set top box you can connect this to the extender via a wire too.

Although, not needed by me, I agree go with the wireless extender.
