Static Coming From Speakers

Static on all PCI slots. Do you have on-board sound? Remove the sound card and see if it has static. Replacing the motherboard with a different one. This can be hit or miss. Trying another sound adapter.

I cant exactly just get another motherboard, I just turned 16 today, so ill see what i can do.

Man do I wish we had a Best Buy or a Circuit City. Lima has nothing, we have 4 walmarts, which is not needed. We have Office Depot and Office Max.

Hi,

I have had a bit of static in my speakers this morning, a sort of crackling noise. I seem to have sorted the problem by just simply twisting the plug in the socket. This is usually enough to clean the contacts and ensure a good connection. Most cases of static are caused by poor connections and dust in the socket. Just remove the cover of your PC and see how much dust is in there. It is inevitable that some of this will find its way to the sockets. In fact, many PC faults can be attributed to poor connections.

Thank You I will Clean out My Computer in a bit.... Now that i think about it, It has been awhile since i have cleaned the inside of it out. I Will tell you if this helps or not.

Dwarf, Do you think since i have a wireless keyboard/mouse that there might be some interference? Or my dad had some Ham Radios, Could that be it? Just a thought.

If you hear static when hard drive is accessing or mouse moving, its in the bus.

OK, well i moved the card, cleaned the entire inside of the computer.....NOTHING!!!!

Im beginning to think that it is just the speakers.

Update: I just unplugged the speakers from the sound card and then plugged the headphones straight into the card. It is the speakers that are making the static. Looks like i will need to just go get new speakers.

Hi Aaron,

Since the problem disappears when you use your headphones rather than your speakers, that eliminates problems with your PC. Let's look at your speakers. Are the interconnecting cables wired in or are they connected by plugs? If you have plug-in cables, try different cables. If they are directly wired, then you are probably looking at new speakers. However, you could try this (it also works for portable radios). With the speakers not operating, turn the volume control from minimum to maximum and back again a few times. It is possible that there is some contamination of the resistive track in the control. Try the speakers again. Even if that helps and the problem seems to go away, this is probably only a temporary solution. You would still be advised to replace your speakers.

Ya i am most likley looking at getting a new set of speakers. They came with the Wireless Keyboard and mouse, so in they are not the best of quality, which is suprising because they are logictechs. But new speakers would not hurt.
