i pick these programs because they work quite well together. i do not run the one care fire wall, because the zonealarm fire is great. what little zonealarm misses counterspy catches. zonealarm antivirus on access scan is disabled because it still wants to check secondary drives even though i have it configured not to. i use onecares on access scanner because it only checks vista. as for the anti spyware portion of counterspy, zonealarm, ca antispy they each catch items that the others may miss. each is scheduled to do their scans far enough apart as not to interfer with eachother. as for windows defender it is disabled, worthless in my book.

It's definitely not just a Vista issue......i had Virtumonde on Vista and XP. I use Norton AntiVirus and Spybot...neither removed it. Had to reformat...twice.

i know for a fact that spyware and viruses are a bigger problem in vista. vista is less secure than xp. even pre service pack 1 on xp i never had the security holes that i do with vista. in xp i would never have gotten this. i do blame the virus / spyware removal companies. i see spyware / virus listed to be fix on google for vista that were fix in xp over an year ago by these companies. as i stated it is neither sending nor receiving data from the web. basically my version is a dead file that i simply can not figure out how to get full permission over to delete it.
