SP1 on stage 3 100% then reverts???

I tried multiple times to manually install as well as through the update service. I also used the preparatory tool and SFC. There were some errors that it found and could not fix. The efforts are listed for the most part in this thread. Its history now but as I stated it still bugs me to have had to do a work around to get SP1.
