Sound is slower then video.

Hello, My first post here but been hanging out here alot and learned alot.

Well, i previously had Combined Community Codec Pack but after viewing the thread on vista64bit codecs, i uninstalled this and used vista64bit codecs. But then i could play only media center not my windows media player. So after getting so annoying i installed Combined Community Codec Pack again.

But now i play any video, i feel the sound not in sync with the movie, as its slower then the video.

Any suggestions ?
P.S : I use DIGITAL CABLE for my z680 and my supreme fx 2 sound card is just idle and not in use of my asus rampage. Also i use 9800 gfx from which a friend of mine has done audio output, but i dunno how.

I even tried using media classic player and even the timeshift to make the voice match the video but dosent help as much as there is still some lag.

Try removing any codec packs you have installed and install both the FFDShow video and audio decoder and see if you still experience this problem. This will help in narrowing down the problem.

Also what format of video are you trying to play?

Ummm i got Commbined COMMUNITY CODEC PACK installed and uninstalled VISTA CODEC pack.

How do i separately install FFDShow video and audio ?

Any video format mainly .avi .. even mkv files are same.

Well i did this, now gona be playign a movie to see, but i can only load windows media center as it dosent support windows media player due to no codecs for it lol. Plus i cant play MKV files.

Secondly whats the difference between 64 and 32 bit player ?

Well in theory the 64bit player should be slightly faster, due to it running natively on 64 bit hardware and OS. Unfortunately not all codecs come in 64bit so some people (myself included) stick with a 32bit.

For MKVs you'll need the Haali Media Splitter, then you have your choice of codec:

FFDShow - Higher CPU usage, and video quality isn't as good as it could be.
CoreAVC - Fastest software decoder, great quality, not free.
MPC-HC Decoder - Supports hardware decoding for lower CPU usasge (you'll need a compatible video card), great quality, free and my personal choice.

Ok well i tried the FFDSHOW u gave me, but strangely its kinda slower then the setup i had before, tried watching super hero yest and it was laggy :(

P.S : I used media center if thats the 64bit player we talking about, as media player wouldnt have the codec for it.

Now the ones u mentioned, i can get CoreAVC if its superior.

**I must enjoy my logitech z680 speakers on my quad :("
